Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the steak and stilton pie, described as homemade, deep filled and huge, served with sauté potatoes and seasonal veg. Close behind are the chicken, ham and leek pie, the meat pie, and fish and chips, with apple crumble and other puddings also praised. Portions are repeatedly called generous, and several mention half portions on the menu. Staff are consistently described as friendly and welcoming, and one reviewer notes the team arranged a comfortable table for three dogs. Local ales on tap and a relaxed, traditional atmosphere in a village on the edge of Dartmoor also come up. The complaints are small: one diner found the roast beef light on veg, with a single small platter for three and no extra gravy, and the bar toilets are described as very tight for space. Two reviewers advise booking, and one saw several customers turned away for lack of tables.

“For a quaint country pub, this is your place. The atmosphere is what you expect including local ales on tap and a bar man and staff who have a clear passion for the business. I had the steak and stilton pie (came with sauté potatoes and seasonal veg) and it was lovely and beautifully seasoned and a good portion size for one person.”

“Stayed last week at delightful Peter Tavy and visited the Inn for an evening meal ... something not to be missed! Traditional pub atmosphere, warm welcome, great menu - imaginative but not too fancy or overpriced. Friendly, relaxed and attentive service. In a word: faultless. Wish I lived closer!”
