About The White Hart Bridestowe (not weatherspoons)
Set in a 17th-century post inn on Fore St, The White Hart Bridestowe is a village pub in the centre of Bridestowe, around 15 minutes' drive from Okehampton. A wood-beamed pizzeria sits alongside the bar, so pizza runs next to a home-cooked menu of pub cooking that includes fish and chips and steak and ale pie. The bar and the restaurant occupy separate areas, with an open fire in the pub and dogs allowed in the bar, though not in the restaurant. Locally brewed cask ale and draught bitters pour from the taps. The pub keeps en suite rooms upstairs for anyone staying over. It works on a walk-in basis and opens daily, with around 14 dishes on the food menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the homemade pub food, naming the steak and ale pie and the fish and chips repeatedly. A lasagne, a fish cake, a jacket potato and a chicken salad with a bit of kick also get praise. Portions are described as generous, and a biscoff cheesecake and four scoops of ice cream come up for dessert. Close behind is the friendly, welcoming staff, who one reviewer says seem to care that diners enjoy the food. Drinks draw notes too, including the Dartmoor IPA, beautifully kept cask ale and three draught bitters, served in a real pub with an open fire and locals at the bar. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, though one reviewer notes they are not allowed in the restaurant. The only quibble comes from one reviewer who found the onion rings a tad expensive as a side. One reviewer came two nights running and called the fish and chips scrumptious.

“Old school pub at it's very best! Thursday evening before Good Friday. Really friendly and warm welcome. Beautifully kept local casque ale. Delicious and reasonably priced homemade food (the steak and ale pie was top notch!) Busy with locals before the Easter break. Not too many around like this any more sadly.”

“We stopped overnight in our camper ( FOC! ) on our way home and what a lovely pub! . Amazing staff and friendly locals. They have a nice selection of local beers and a simple, home-cooked menu . The food was splendid ( Steak pie & Fish & chips ) - as a retired Chef myself I could not recommend this place more ! Good food and a lovely warm welcome 👍 We will be back soon !”
