Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food itself, singling out crispy king prawns, chicken balls and two-piece spring rolls. Others name crispy beef, a szechuan special, a fu house special, king prawn fried rice and thick chicken and sweetcorn and hot and spicy soups. Portions are described as decent, enough for one and a half meals in one account, and several call the food fresh and tasty. Friendly, helpful counter and phone staff come up close behind, and one reviewer describes regulars in the waiting area agreeing it is the best around. The complaints are specific and cluster around the chicken curry. Two reviewers report undercooked, slimy chicken, and one adds chewy chips, an average sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style and bland spring rolls filled mostly with bean sprouts. Another, writing after a recent change of ownership, describes a wrong order from a counter lad absorbed in his phone and a noticeably smaller fried rice tray. Two reviewers mention free prawn crackers arriving with the order, one adding fortune cookies.

“FU HOUSE has recently changed hands (March 26). The previous owners being there many years offering good service and value for money and had a loyal customer base. My first visit was somewhat disappointing on two grounds: 1 Young lad not the usual older woman on the counter got my order wrong; too busy playing on his phone! Second when they corrected the order and when I took it home I notice the fried rice tray was significantly SMALLER than the case under the last owner! Why do new people try to change something when it’s not broke? People will notice things like this and feel they are losing value for money. It’s hard to build and keep a loyal customer base but easy to lose it! This happened at the Deanery Cafe in Tamworth which went up for sale within 12 months of changing hands, probably for the same reasons?”
