Customer Review Summary
Across most visits, diners return to The 48 for the breadth and quality of its pan-Asian menu, with several praising dishes by name. The Thai green curry, Mongolian chicken and Penang curry come up as standouts in family meals, while one diner singles out the duck boa buns for their crispy duck and soft, flavour-packed rolls, and another devours the full vegan menu. The menu's wide reach across 48 countries gives vegetarians and meat eaters alike plenty to share, and most reviewers find the flavours rich, the portions generous, and the prices surprisingly reasonable for the quality. Service draws consistent praise, described as warm, attentive, and informative, with staff happy to check ingredients with the chef. One isolated Thai-focused visit tells a different story, reporting freezer-tasting squid, dry monkfish, and an unmemorable pad Thai, a complaint that does not echo elsewhere in the reviews. Several suggest booking ahead.

“What am amazing experience. This is the second best Asian food I've had in the UK since moving here 17 years ago and that's including working a good bit on London. 48 refers to 48 countries and they regularly change their menu and swap in foods from those countries. Try the Duck Boa Buns. They were a total delight and I'm scheming to get back soon and will probably just have a couple of these as my meal. Super tasty, crispy duck, soft boa bun bursting with flavour. Number 1 Asian by the way is Hunan in London and there is no better Chinese in London IMHO. Excellent food and a price tag to go with it. For me the experience that is much more affordable and the same league as London's best is a massive find. If you live in or near Swindon do yourselfa favour and try it out, you will not be disappointed!!!❤️”

“We were excited to try this place as we love Thai food. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. The squid was very tough and seemed to have come from the freezer via the deep fat fryer. The monk fish was dry with no real flavor. The pad Thai was ok as was the beef, but not good enough for a second visit”
