About Los Gatos

Los Gatos is a Spanish tapas restaurant on Devizes Road in Swindon, set in a small dining room with a relaxed feel. The kitchen works in the share-plate tradition, with dishes brought to the table for diners to split. The menu draws on tapas staples, with pork belly, croquettes, and churros ordered often, and Basque cheesecake singled out as a standout dessert. The team is friendly and engaging, and offers guidance on dishes for those deciding what to order. The restaurant gets very busy, and arriving early is common practice. Reservations are not mentioned, and the room runs on a walk-in basis.

“Visited Los Gatos two years ago. Dreamt about it ever since. We live over 200 miles away. It was beyond worth the drive. (We are actually travelling further South. This was a detour 😆) ANYWAY - I cannot think of a single thing to mark down. Honestly, it was perfection 👌 There were four of us. We ordered a lot: the much revered aubergine chips with honey, creamy spicy pork croquettes, super fat olives, pan con tomate which was far beyond just tomatoes on toast, intensely flavoured chorizo, soft octopus with capers and potatoes, rings of crispy squid, chicken wings with sherry, enormous chunks of battered cod, Spanish black pudding spread onto aniseed crackers (as advised by the attentive and engaging staff), and there was definitely more. I can't remember anything else but it was all so very perfect 🔥 Finished on the recommendation of Basque cheesecake. Smooth, creamy and with a bright flavour from the tangy cheese. Also props to the wine. One glass of the Talento Syrah lasted the full meal because it was the kind of thing you savour til the last drop. I am now dreaming again and saving up for the next time!”

“Best place if you are looking for authentic tapas but does get really busy so would recommend to get there early and allow yourselves plenty of time if you want to enjoy the full experience.”
  • Lucy Wainman
“This charming little tapas restaurant is an absolute gem! All the dishes are great but you have to try the pork belly, and also another highlight was the churros. We will definitely try to come again!”
  • Patrick Guy
“Excellent tapas food served by good humored staff with in a relaxed atomosphere. The cheese cake is exceptional. A much better option than a (good) pizza chain restrant just down the road.”
  • Madeline T
“Fantastic service and food was delicious. Will definitely be returning and trying more dishes. We had 4 plates (croquettes, meatballs, beef skewers and pork belly) to share and 1 dessert (churros) which was just enough for us. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.”
