About Biplob (Swindon)

Biplob is an Indian restaurant on Wood Street in Swindon, run as both a sit-down room and a takeaway and delivery kitchen, with walk-ins the order of the day and a straightforward reservation process when a table is wanted. The menu moves from familiar starters like onion bhajis and Wild Bengal prawn grill through to mains such as chicken passanda, lamb curry and chicken biriyani, with plain naan served alongside. The kitchen also covers rice dishes and the wider takeaway range of curries and sides for collection. Regulars form much of the trade, eating in or ordering out from the same counter service. The restaurant sits a short walk from the town centre, and the room takes walk-ins throughout service, with delivery covering the surrounding streets.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the lamb curry, with the chicken Passanda, chicken Biriyani and Onion Bhajis also named as delicious. Several describe friendly, welcoming staff, a lovely atmosphere and plenty of rice. One reviewer found service sometimes erratic but polite, and felt the Wild Bengal Prawn Grill starter came with only two prawns, unlike the generous portions elsewhere. Another celebrated a late mother's birthday at her favourite restaurant.

“Staff are very friendly and welcoming. The chicken Biriayni was lovely. got plenty of rice. When you leave stuffed to the hilt you know you've had good food need I say any more.”
  • Dominique White
“The food was excellent, with generous portions for everything except for the Wild Bengal Prawn Grill starter, where we were only served TWO prawns for £9.95 (!). Service was sometimes erratic but always polite. There were a lot of regular customers dining on the night we went, which is always a good sign. Swindon is lucky to have Biplob as one of its go-to Indian restaurants.”
  • Martin Poole
“Perfect. Great food, service and atmosphere.”
  • Julian Adams
“The reservation process was very straight forward. My starter (Onion Bhajis) and my main course (Chicken Passanda) with a plain Naan was delicious. We arrived a little early but were shown to our table straight away. The service was superb too. I can thoroughly recommend the Biplob if you want a tasty Indian meal.”
  • Jeanette Price
“We were celebrating my late mothers birthday, it was her favourite restaurant, what a lovely meal, the atmosphere is great and food is amazing”
