Quick info
About The Promenade
On Queen's Avenue in Sunderland, The Promenade is a pub and restaurant set across from the sea, with outside seating that doubles as a people-watching spot on the esplanade. The room opens onto a beer garden at the back, and dogs are welcome inside and out, which makes it a straightforward stop for walks along the front. Inside, the bar pours a decent choice of beers, and food is served from the restaurant side. The format suits both casual drinkers looking for a seat in the sun and diners settling in for a meal with the view.

Customer Review Summary
Against that, two reviewers raise real concerns. One describes being brushed off after giving negative feedback about the food, and another reports that a member of staff began spraying fly spray near customers without apparent concern for the fumes. Those are isolated accounts rather than a recurring pattern, but they sit alongside the more positive visits and are worth noting.

“Not have food - lunch time visit - outside seating with limited view of sea. Decent choice of beers.”

“Great pub shocking food. I was asked by a member of staff if I enjoyed my meal and when I gave feedback she said ok and walked away. Then to top it off another person from behind the bar started spraying fly spray towards the ceiling. No thought for the customer breathing in the fumes. I have been there before on my occasions, but never again.”
