Quick info
About Grannie Annies
Grannie Annies is a pub and restaurant on Marine Walk in Sunderland, set across two floors with indoor seating on each level and a rooftop outdoor area above. The layout puts bench seating close to the beach, giving the upper space an open setting for groups who want to eat or drink with a view. The kitchen serves food in generous portions, and the menu runs alongside the usual pub offer of drinks at the bar. Dogs are welcome throughout, which makes it a practical stop for anyone walking the seafront with a pet. Orders are placed at the counter, and the team operates a walk-in format through the day. The combination of two floors, the rooftop benches and the beachside position shapes how the place is used, from quick drinks to longer meals with friends or family.

“Sad occasion, but lovely staff. We did not eat here.”

“Popped in for drinks. Ordered a diet coke, a pint of Alpaccalypse and a blackcurrant cordial. We had to take the blackcurrant back as the glass was dirty, but the barmaid changed this straight away. The coke was flat and the pint was undrinkable, just tasted awful. The whole place smelled quite bad too. On the plus side the location and staff are great”

“Love this place, great friendly staff, lush views and great prices. Sunday ritual pint stop on the dog walk, wouldn't go anywhere else. Food is amazing as well, inside its lush and cosy with plenty of space over the 2 floors. Lush rooftop outdoor area and cozy benches by the beach. Literally covered whatever the weather and not dissapointed. Highly recommend a visit here to anyone.”

“I've been coming here since the day it opened with my 2 dogs and always loved place, staff friendly, management good.Recently I've noticed a change, one of them being offered indoor drinks in plastic glasses, including wine which I think is unacceptable, considering price of drinks.I don't know if there's been a change of management but I can tell the standards have gone down .Can see that glasses are not been collected and we cleared our own table on arrival. An improvement could be done with lighting in toilets as my Auntie has visual problems and was difficult to navigate around.Hope the standards can improve to previous as it's such a nice place.”
