Customer Review Summary
Friendly service is the most common praise, with several reviewers describing welcoming, attentive servers who coped well with a busy day and an electricity problem. Starters and drinks draw the most specific mentions: the mushroom bao buns, chilli squid, duck gyoza, Thai margarita and Cherry Blossom Lemonade. The gochujang pork belly ramen and steak soba also earn praise, and reviewers note plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Mains split opinion. One reviewer found the pork belly ramen mostly noodles and broth, another found the noodles plain in places, and an extra of Korean BBQ sauce took ages and arrived as hoisin. Several raise uneven timing, including one diner still waiting after companions had finished eating. One diner reports a lukewarm katsu chicken curry that left them feeling sick. Others mention weak drinks, high prices, an unclean dining room and a flickering booth light. One reviewer suggests asking for the bill when ordering dessert. Another asked for a birthday message in chocolate on a plate, and it never appeared.

“Great service and nice food. The noodles were a bit plain in some places, so probably were not stirred/spiced well. Overall, tasty food and had a nice time”

“Food was ok , I did request a birthday cake but they didn't do them so the chef said she'd write happy birthday in chocolate on a plate but it sadly did not appear. Very expensive place, over £90 for three meals and a small can of coke and two tiny starters, beer absolutely ridiculous £7 pint. Wouldn't go again”

“Initially sat and told our server would be with us soon. Our assigned server didn't attend to us. Penny stepped in who did an amazing job, considering she hasn't assigned tables before! She took our drinks order and said our server would be with us soon. Again, our assigned server didn't attend. Penny came back and asked if we had been served and she happily took our order as we hadn't. We ordered two mains, a side and extra. Our side came immediately, it was truly delicious and the highlight of all of the food we had. The duck gyoza was great. Then my partners main arrived. We knew the plates would be scattered in time but I had to wait ten minutes for my main. He had the steak soba and said it was good! My katsu chicken curry arrived and it was cold, warm in the middle (rice and chicken) but the sauce was cold as was the outer parts of the dish. My partner wanted to return it, as I'm pregnant and very hungry I insisted it was OK. After a few bites I was quite disgruntled as the colder parts of the meal had knocked me sick. If it was warm, I'm sure the dish would have been great. It was our first time trying Wagamama and it will more than likely be our last. The service from Penny was remarkable, she was absolutely fantastic. Just a shame she wasn't our assigned waitress otherwise we would have left a large tip solely for her. The food.. mediocre. I would highly recommend heading to a local China town and going to one of the restaurants there (Manchester - Wasabi) and i can ensure you it would be much cheaper and the food will have much more flavour. Saddened to say we wont be going again, which is a shame as it's local. Penny, thank you for your fantastic service!”

“We stop here usually after a trip to Alton towers and always enjoy our food. We came before a visit on Saturday and sat on the sunny terrace. Our server was lovely; she said she was new and still learning but she did an amazing job and was very attentive and proactive. Im not 100% sure of her name but it began with a P! The food was spot on and very fresh. There was an issue with the electricity but we didn't notice and the staff dealt with it well despite it getting very busy. All in all a very nice meal and service!”

“If you were born off planet and have never been to one of these; it's Thai fusion, think stir frys, ramen, rice bowls, bau buns. All very fresh and well prepped with good ingredients and good portions. I love the way you can make your own and choose what goes in to your bowl. Chain, yes, cookie cutter, sure, but if you want consistent quality it is a good choice. This one is located in a bit of a grim spot, doesn't matter once you're inside and the service is great.”
