Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is the main draw, mostly for guests staying at the neighbouring hotel who return to the unlimited breakfast. Reviewers praise the bacon, sausages that taste like a butcher's, soft poached eggs, fried eggs cooked fresh on request and crispy hash browns, with food kept refreshed and plates cleared quickly. One server is repeatedly singled out for a warm greeting and for chatting with guests as if they were family. Close behind are a BBQ chicken melt with onion rings, a steak dinner and generous portions, with a cocktail offer also mentioned. Dinner draws more complaints. One diner found a steak and ale pie light on meat, with uncooked peas and plain frozen chips, and called the restaurant grubby. Another says the Sunday roast arrived without broccoli, turnip, mash or puddings, and there was no mint sauce. A wedding-eve family found it boiling with no fans or air conditioning. When a cocktail arrived in a chipped glass it was replaced promptly, and a table whose order was lost was offered free garlic bread.

“On the eve of our wedding we decided to have a family meal here on a Friday evening. It wasnt too busy and we were seated immediately eventhough we hadn't booked a table. The staff were friendly and helpful and we didn't have to wait long to be served. The soft drinks we ordered came with ice although we didn't ask for it and the coke didn't taste right unfortunately. The food itself was very nice and everybody was full and satisfied. It was an expensive meal but we wouldn't eat here again as it was more of a one-off for a special occasion. The restaurant itself was boiling and had no fans or air conditioning on a very hot day which was a tad disappointing 😐”

“I ate breakfast and dinner twice at the Talpore, whist staying at the adjacent Premier Inn as part of my cycling tour. Clearly it’s not the Ritz, but it is very friendly and excellent value for money. The breakfast is especially good value: a wide choice of cold and hot, and all freshly cooked. In particular, Bev’s warm and friendly greeting added a personal touch and really made me feel like a valued customer. A great start to my day.”

“A Beefeater is a good basic value for money food outlet, if you understand that you are not going to be disappointed. Personally I am quite happy with eating at Beefeater, today I had the BBQ chicken melt. I would say it was delicious and just the right portion size. I did also order a side of onion rings and had the bottomless soda drink. Now, the front of house staff here are excellent and I would like to mention Chris our server who was chatty, cheerful, helpful and an all around nice chap, a credit to the Beefeater brand. So would I eat here again? To darn right I would.”

“The ultimate roast 🤣🤣🤣 20 quid for an ultimate roast, we had both had one a while ago and it was okay so went with a safe bet. This was the worst sunday lunch ive ever had, no brocoli, turnip, mash or puddings and they dont do mint sauce. Avoid!!!”

“Morning, thank you Bev. After many anonymous flat Hotel breakfast restaurants it was great to come to a place where you’re welcomed with a smile and genuine warmth. Bev knew guest by name and it was wonderful to watch her chat to all the different guest as if they were family. Then the food was great, lovely bacon and the poached eggs soft and runny. Thank you for making me feel welcome and at ease on a big day, travelling to a part of the uk I’d never been to onboard a new distribution team. A big day for me and couldn’t be more grateful for the kindness shown. Well done to the management team for creating a culture that fits hospitality at its core value of being hospitable.”
