About Florence & Amelia's

Florence & Amelia's is a coffee shop on Corporation Street in Stalybridge, with its daytime menu built around coffee, sandwiches and cakes. Welsh rarebit appears at lunch, and ice cream is also served alongside the food. The shop operates as a coffee shop, cafe and sandwich shop by day, and the room welcomes dogs. Staff bring food and drink out to customers' cars on request. The space stays busy throughout the day, reflecting the mix of coffee, soft drinks and light food on offer. The same address also functions as a beer shop and wine bar, rounding out the offering beyond the daytime cafe counter.

Customer Review Summary

The honest caveat sits with two reviewers. One describes a cold, abrupt welcome at the counter and found the food and portion size disappointing for the price, and a separate visitor left breakfast elsewhere after being told a twenty pound note was not accepted, which they saw as the shop losing the sale. A few recommend dropping in for the cake and sandwiches, framing that as their own suggestion.

“Disappointing visit – not what we expected We visited Florence and Amelia in Stalybridge yesterday after seeing the shop advertised on Facebook, and were looking forward to a nice brunch with my daughter. It wasn’t very busy, so we got a table right by the front window easily, but sadly that was about the only good point. We didn’t feel welcomed at all. The lady behind the counter had a very unfriendly manner – not aggressive, but cold and abrupt, which made us feel uncomfortable from the start. When our food arrived, it was nothing like what we expected and I was quite disappointed; the prices also felt very high for the quality and portion size we received. I also used the facilities, and they were far from clean: the toilet itself was dirty, and the mirror was smudged and unwashed. Overall, it fell well short of what I’d hoped for based on the advertising. Sadly, I wouldn’t rush back or recommend it.”
