About Neway Chinese Takeaway
Order at the counter at Neway Chinese Takeaway, a Chinese takeaway at 1 The Co-Operative Store in Stafford, and the team hands you a bleeper that buzzes when your food is ready, useful because orders can involve a wait. The menu runs to 216 dishes, opening with a row of soups that includes Hot & Sour Soup and Chicken & Sweet Corn Soup. From there it moves through salt and pepper king prawns and salt and pepper squid, Peking spare ribs, and beef and mushroom in black bean sauce, with sweet and sour pork and chicken vermicelli also on the list. Rice and noodle dishes back up the main plates, and beef curry arrives paired with egg fried rice. It works on a walk-in basis, opening Tuesday to Sunday in the evenings and closed Mondays. Card payment is accepted, and prawn crackers come free with an order.

Customer Review Summary
Salt and pepper prawns draw the most praise, with one reviewer calling them fabulous and another listing the king prawn version among their favourites. Close behind are the beef and mushroom in black bean sauce, salt and pepper squid, sweet and sour pork, Peking spare ribs, and a chicken vermicelli one family says is not prepared anywhere else in Stafford. Fans describe food that is fresh, hot, not too greasy or salty, and good value. The main complaint is slipping consistency. Three reviewers say quality has declined, describing lukewarm, bland food and ribs that were small pieces with hardly any meat. One says Friday orders are great while weekend ones are awful, and wonders whether a different chef is cooking. One reviewer mentions a low hygiene rating while noting the report found no safety issue. A first-time customer found the order prepared quickly and liked the bleep that signals it is ready, and another notes the free prawn crackers.

“Food used to be ok, but now it seems like they have become complacent with where they are situated. Food lukewarm and bland. Quality has certainly slipped. Not going to be wasting money there again for conveyance. The ribs where a waste of money, just small pieces with hardly any meat.”

“Delicious Chinese, everything tasted fresh and not too greasy / salty like some takeaways. and really good value for money!”

“Food is always fresh, hot and very tasty. Portion size is perfect. We always order 2 dishes to share and we now have salt and pepper prawns, these are a must, fabulous. If you have to wait, so be it...well worth it. You also get free prawn crackers and you can pay by card, havent got to faff with getting cash back from somewhere.”
