About The Catch - Fish & Chips
On Main Rd in Sidcup, The Catch - Fish & Chips is a fish and chips takeaway that skins its fish before frying and cooks every order fresh. The chips are cut in the shop rather than brought in. The menu includes cod and haddock, and a saveloy and onion is sold alongside the fish and chips for anyone who wants something different from the fish. The shop is at 261 Main Rd and is run by a couple as a family-owned business.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the fresh, crispy fish, with haddock, cod, plaice and rock all named, and the fish is described as cooked to order with the skin removed before frying. Close behind are the chips, which several say are cut in house and freshly cooked, and one calls the portions generous. The friendly, welcoming staff come up repeatedly, with some describing a family feel from the couple running the shop and one saying it tasted like the seaside. Not everyone agrees on value, as one first-time visitor notes it is no longer a cheap Friday night dinner. The one clearly negative review describes cold, soggy, rubbery chips with no flavor and a saveloy that seemed recooked from the day before, from a customer of five years who had never had a complaint until then. That reviewer says they will not return if the owners have left. Most others say they will definitely be back.

“I was craving fish and chips as I hadn't had it for at least 3months, and I found this place. Lovely couple running the shop! It was like a family vibe, so welcoming Thank You. The haddock was fresh as fresh with the lovely crisp batter. And the chips were delicious they cut it themselves, it was fresh. I forgot to take a picture as it was very tasty. Highly recommend this place.”
