About Puckafood

Breakfast and brunch drive the menu at Puckafood, a takeaway restaurant on Carlisle Street East in Sheffield. The kitchen sends out a full English alongside a Mediterranean and Yemeni-style breakfast, and Adeni tea, a traditional Arabic tea, sits on the drinks list next to iced coffees and freshly squeezed orange juice. Beyond the morning plates, pasta and spaghetti arrive in a white creamy sauce, garlic bread comes alongside the chef's special, and French toast is offered in a Nutella version. The owner is often on site and will adjust dishes to how you want them. Service runs on a walk-in basis with no bookings taken, and food can take a while to reach the table. Dogs are welcome, so walkers can stop in with theirs. The doors open Monday to Friday during the daytime and stay closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Customer Review Summary

Breakfast draws most reviewers, led by the full English, which one diner had with chicken sausages, scrambled eggs and spiced beans, and a portion described as huge. The Mediterranean and veggie breakfasts, a Yemeni brunch with caramelized onions and well flavoured beef sausages, and nutella french toast follow close behind. Pasta also earns loyalty, with one reviewer praising a white creamy sauce and another travelling across town for it. The garlic bread is called delicious, and hot drinks such as adeni tea, traditional arabic tea and freshly squeezed orange juice come up repeatedly. The main caveat is the wait for food, which two reviewers mention, though both felt it paid off. One found the chicken in the chef's special not so succulent, and another called the french toast standard, nothing special. Staff are described as polite and friendly, and the owner is said to go out of her way to cater food exactly as a customer wants. One reviewer was struck by a perfume bottle left at the handwash area.

“Really nice breakfast/brunch/cafe. I used to always go to their old branch in abbeydale rd. they offer a variety of breakfast dishes, some with fusion options. Everything is done just right. Owner is very polite and friendly. Prices are reasonable too. I’d personally recommend and will be going back.”

“My favourite place to eat, from breakfast to dinner to nutella french toast which is my kids fav! Something for every body, very healthy options which i love, food is so fresh and delicious we need more pucka foods around, HINT HINT! Love all the menu and it takes us a while to decide what to eat or even drink as it’s all so delicious :) And finally to the lovely staff member Ramah who makes the most amazing iced coffees and her efforts with customers is unmatched! Thank you for the effort you make with my children always so patient and kind, they absolutely love visiting this place!”

“Very delicious Yemeni brunch - the caramelized onions really added to the dish and the beef sausages were well flavoured and moist. The adeni tea is very good although not the best I've tried and the french toast is standard, nothing special but filling and decent flavour. Overall atmosphere is lovely. Would definitely go back!”
