About Chaiiwali Sheffield

Chaiiwali Sheffield builds its menu around fresh donuts in a Blackpool seaside style, served alongside karak chai, and works from a small stall on Surbiton St. Churros with cinnamon sugar sit on the same short list, with milkshakes and a run of cakes and cheesecake, plus one savoury plate for anyone who wants something other than sweets. Benches outside form the seating, so orders are eaten in the open air, and dogs are welcome at them. The entrance is step-free, which helps visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. It opens daily in the evenings only, running late enough to catch people heading away from Sheffield Arena. Booking ahead is advised.

Customer Review Summary

Fresh donuts are the draw reviewers return to most, described as freshly made and reminiscent of the seaside or Blackpool style, soft and noticeably better for being made to order. Close behind is the tea, with several singling out the hot, rich karak chai and one calling the pink tea among the best they have had after being offered a sample. Also mentioned are the samosa chaat, the San Sebastian, the brownie, a bubblegum milkshake that arrived quickly, and a Matilda cake with custard. Much of the praise centres on unprompted gestures from the counter staff, who wiped down benches for people sheltering from the rain, handed out churros to a crowd waiting for taxis after an arena event, and lent a phone charger to someone who had not bought anything. Against that, one returning customer reports a shift in service, describing a server who was miserable, confusion over menu prices, and churros served plain and not fresh despite being called so.

“Cannot comment on food or atmosphere as of yet but will give it a try at some point. But the staff on at 10pm 24/06/2026 were amazing my phone had died after an event at Sheffield arena (quicker than normal due to the heat), and they were more than happy to lend me a charger so I could charge my phone to track my taxi as I was on my own, they also made sure that it was definitely the correct taxi I was getting into. Not something you see everyday especially to non-customers but a true act of kindness from lovely staff, and if their acts of kindness are anything to go by this will be a lovely place to eat and have a drink.”

“samosa chaat was outstanding! The chai was also very good, fresh, and full of flavour. The donuts were fresh too. The place was very clean — definitely 5 stars for cleanliness. Overall, it was a really great experience. Highly recommended!””

“What a lovely little find, friendly man and woman serving. They came out and wiped down the benches so we could sit down. They even brought out churros to give out (I presume left over stock, but still a nice touch when we were all stood outside freezing waiting for taxis after an event at the Arena). Me and my husband only ordered tea but honestly, we were very grateful to have have shelter and a warm drink!”
