Customer Review Summary

Breakfast draws the most consistent praise, described repeatedly as freshly cooked, generous, and a strong start to the day, with the chocolate orange cake singled out as a standout and the wider cake and pastry selection, along with jams and pickles, also getting called out. Afternoon tea comes up close behind, with reviewers noting accommodations for allergies and dietary needs and a warm reception even for early arrivals, and the cafe's link to an on-site animal rescue shelter and attached charity shop is mentioned as an extra draw. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming. Against this, a couple of reviews describe real letdowns: one diner reports a breakfast with hard, broken-up bacon that felt overpriced at the price paid, and another describes waiting 40 minutes for drinks alone during a busy period, watching other tables served ahead of them, before leaving without their order. One reviewer who booked the space for an 80th birthday celebration highlights excellent communication throughout the planning process.

Disgusting experience today! We are regular customers and always order with the cafe, came in today it was busy but they had us waiting 40 MINUTES for our DRINKS ( we ordered a water and two teas) . The two people next to us ordered another round of drinks after we ordered ours and got theirs no problem. Still hadnt got our food or drinks after we went up to ask about it so after another 10 minutes we left. Not coming back here in a rush.

  • Jenny Freeman
Lovely food, great selection of quality cakes and sweet treats as well as a range of jams & pickles! Highly recommend calling in for lunch and a browse at the charity shop as it’s all for a great cause!
  • Libby Carl
Ordered breakfast today and to be honest was disappointed in the quality! Bacon was so hard and presented as broken bits. For £11.95 it wasn’t worth it at all. Felt robbed for what we had.
