About Sofia
Sofia is a family-run cafe on Wales Rd in Sheffield, now settled into larger premises than it started in. The menu runs to 13 dishes, with breakfasts alongside cakes, including chocolate pancakes, poached eggs, and Polish sausage. Custom and birthday cakes can be ordered ahead, sold in generous portions and available to take away. The Coconut Milk Latte covers the alternative-milk option among the drinks. Seating is both indoor and kerbside, with a step-free entrance for visitors with mobility needs, and dogs are welcome inside. Reservations are recommended given the size of the operation. The cafe opens Tuesday to Saturday and closes Mondays and Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Cakes draw the strongest praise across reviews, from a custom birthday cake described as surpassing expectations to a christening order that had everyone asking for more, with the bakers credited for helpful, responsive advice on flavours and fillings. Close behind, breakfast and coffee earn repeated mentions, with poached eggs, Polish sausage and chocolate pancakes singled out as favorites and the coconut milk latte noted by an alternative-milk drinker. Several reviewers call out generous portions and prices they consider excellent value, and the setting is described as warm, friendly and cosy, including one visitor who found the same welcome after the cafe moved to larger premises. One reviewer, though, describes a separate £25 evening psychic event as a letdown, with only cheese, meat and crackers served as food, drinks charged extra, and an atmosphere they found odd and at times confrontational, a contrast they themselves note against the otherwise consistently positive reviews. Another diner recalls staff improvising scrambled eggs on the spot when the frittata she ordered wasn't available.

“Attended a psychic evening recently, which was really disappointing. It cost £25, which would have been fine if proper food had been provided. The food for 6 of us was a few slices of cheese and meats, with a couple of crackers, certainly not enough for an evening meal (6-9 pm). All drinks were extra. I've visited others locally and paid similar prices, including an actual meal, welcome drinks, desserts, and a medium visiting each table individually. The atmosphere was odd and sometimes a little confrontational which was very unexpected reading the other reviews of this place which are all extremely positive. I understand the "night" functions will be different to the usual experience, and I will probably come back in the day at some point to see if this experience was a one-off.”

“The cakes were so delicious we ordered 4 for our christening event and everyone loved them. Anna was super helpful and knowledgeable about catering for lots of people. It's a good job I don't live locally otherwise I'd be in there everyday eating cake! Sofia serves top quality which really stands out. Can't recommend it highly enough.”

“Lovely, warm and friendly cafe. We popped in for lunch whilst visiting the area. The frittata I ordered wasn't available so the very kind lady in the kitchen rustled me up the same ingredients in scrambled egg instead. Very reasonable prices too. 4 days later and back in the same area: the cafe has relocated to larger premises, but it's still cosy, warm and friendly. The cakes were a must-try this time and we also bought some lovely fresh sourdough bread. Plus there are complementary sanitary wear and nappies in the toilet; how thoughtful 🥰”
