Customer Review Summary
Afternoon tea draws the most praise, with reviewers highlighting the sandwiches, cakes and a dessert so well liked that one group asked for doggy bags to take extra home, and another describes a spread for eight put on for a birthday celebration that included special trifles for vegetarian guests. Close behind, breakfast gets consistent mentions, from a large fry-up around eight pounds to a full English that reviewers say kept them full all day, alongside bacon butties and buns for those passing through. Several also note the flapjack as pleasantly not too sugary, and vegan options come up as a welcome surprise for a small town spot. Staff and owners are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, service is described as quick even when arriving at busy times, and the surroundings are called clean and bright with local artwork on the walls. No recurring complaints appear across the reviews. One diner recalls being served by a warm, helpful staff member on a stay in the area, while others simply say they plan to return.

“We came here for breakfast as staying in the area. When we arrived we were given a warm welcome. The breakfasts we had were value for money and tasty. The butter with the toast was so yummy! The lady who served us was friendly and helpful. Worth a visit x”

“Lovely little café selling hot drinks, cakes and breakfast/brunch. The staff were really nice and helpful! They also have good vegan options, which I really appreciate, especially for such a small town café :) The flapjack was good — not too sugar-y like many flapjacks are. Couldn’t resist also getting some handmade earrings from the range of art/crafts/food gifts on sale.”

“Called in with my friend and her young grandson for a cuppa and bite to eat. What a perfect choice. Lovely friendly staff, tea cake was gorgeous. Great food at a great price. Clean bright surroundings. Give them a try.”

“I always call in when I'm cycling near Penistone. Proper down to earth cafe with none of that pretentious stuff. Really good coffee. Traditional cafe menu - bacon butties etc. Selection of buns and stuff. Jill always makes me feel welcome and we always have a little chat. Little seating area at the front of the cafe in better weather. I recommend getting away from the main street in Penistone and trying this cafe.”
