About Millhouses Park Cafe
Millhouses Park Cafe sits as a pavilion cafe and terrace beside the boating lake on Abbeydale Rd S, a cafe and ice cream shop serving classic British dishes and snacks. Chip butties on bread rolls sit alongside teacakes and other counter fare, and orders are taken at the counter, with a bleeper handed over for collection. Gluten-free cakes are kept separate from the rest of the food, giving those needing GF options a distinct choice. The terrace offers outdoor seating overlooking the park, useful for anyone wanting to eat outside. High chairs are available for families with young children, and the step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs. Dogs are welcome throughout. There is no booking, the cafe operates on a walk-in basis, and it opens daily. Coffee is served in disposable cups.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee is the most discussed item, and reviewers split on it: one finds the coffees decently sized and not overpriced, while another calls an Americano tasteless brown water. Close behind are the sandwiches, with praise for lovely hot bread and tasty bacon against a complaint that chip butties came on dry bread rolls that fell apart. Service draws the sharpest criticism. Two reviewers describe the woman serving as rude, and others report long waits on busy days, including coffees arriving well after an alarm was handed out. One reviewer says the cup lids would not fit and someone could be scalded, and another says a child's bowl of peas was too hot to touch. One reviewer calls the kids' portions pathetic, citing frozen oven food and tinned beans. The outdoor seating earns praise, and one reviewer felt safe eating because the gluten free cakes are kept separate from the rest.

“Came here with my sister and mum. Ordered drinks and a tea cake. My elderly mum took a minute or two deciding what she wanted and the lady serving was most rude. Our drinks were left for us to collect which we didn't realise and my mums teacake came in a paper bag. Not very friendly service. Shall probably not be going back.”

“Did not have food only a drink but won't be coming back because of the attitude of the woman serving, if I was the manager I get rid of her before she losses more customers. Time of my visit was midday.”

“Had a lovely meal but the only problem there was my grandson wasn't happy because he touched the little bowl his peas came in and found it to hot to touch even I as an adult couldn't touch the bowl they were boiling hot”

“The park was particularly busy. We ordered drinks and a sandwich each x3. Bleeper in hand we waited for food having drunk our drinks already. Over 45 mins waiting, our bag of food appeared on the side without the bleeper going off. Lovely hot bread, tasty bacon, service bad. There was water everywhere in the loo cubicle. The area outside the loo has 5 doors,I was alittle surprised that one came from the servery and across to a stockroom, one Staff only, one the loo and one back into the dining area.”

“First visit here. Love that the coffees are decently sized and not overpriced. Felt safe eating here as the gluten free cakes are kept separate from the rest, and there's more GF food options. Fab!”
