Quick info
About The Whitehouse Restaurant
The Whitehouse Restaurant serves Indian food on The Broadway in Sheerness, a short distance from the beach. Its menu runs to 254 dishes, so a set option pulls the choice down to a starter, a main, a side and either rice or naan. Beyond that, the kitchen covers biryanis including chicken tikka biryani and meat biryani, a vegetarian thali plated with dishes such as daal and mixed veg, and curries like lamb curry alongside saag aloo. Chicken Tikka appears on the list too. Cobra beer is poured for the tables, with drinks ordered separately from the food. Larger parties of seven or eight are seated together at single tables rather than split up. The restaurant opens Tuesday to Sunday in the evenings only and closes on Mondays, and it fills up on Saturday nights. Catering and takeaway orders sit alongside the dining room.

Customer Review Summary
The biryani is what reviewers return to most, one calling the meat biryani the centerpiece of a complaint free meal for a table of eight, while a lamb curry with Cobra beer and a set price menu with generous portions draw their own repeat praise. Several describe food arriving piping hot to large tables, with staff described as accommodating and one group even offered their leftovers to take home. Two guests were less convinced: one reviewer reports the potato side served with a chicken tikka biryani smelled and tasted stale, that a saag aloo replacement had the same problem, that no apology followed, and that the ten percent deduction applied to the bill was miscalculated. Another found the vegetarian thali's two vegetable dish and the rice weaker than the daal and mixed veg, suggesting ordering dishes separately instead. One diner notes drinks tripled what was expected and plans to spend less on them next time, and another was put off by children running between tables on a busy evening.

“I had a good meal with friends here. We went for the set price option. All of us enjoyed the food and the portion sizes were good. Setting: It's a comfortable regular type place with a pleasant atmosphere. Nothing upmarket but not grubby either. I would go again but may spend less on drinks next time which doubled my bill for 3 drinks”

“Absolutely amazing food and service, it was 8,30 in the evening and there was lots of Family’s in the restaurant, children running around and screaming and staff trying to navigate them not to spill food on them!! not an enjoyable atmosphere unfortunately, I am a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 7 and I always explained to my children and grandchildren that your in a restaurant you don’t run around and you sit and colour on drawing books that we have brought with us, you have to be respectful of others in the restaurant!! Not everyone wants children scream running around in and out and under tables !!”

“My friend and I visited the restaurant to take advantage of the £17 special offer prominently advertised both outside and inside the establishment, which includes a starter, main dish, side dish, and a choice of rice or naan bread. …”

“First time visiting here. It was a Saturday night and quite busy. Doesn't look great from the outside, but don't be put off! An excellent restaurant, really lovely inside, great service. Most importantly the food was delicious. Will be going back, for definite. Many thanks for a lovely evening”
