Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the main draw at The Poacher's Pocket, with reviewers praising the roast beef, sirloin, and a pork belly dinner with creamy leeks, all in generous portions they call good value. Close behind are the fish and chips, with a crispy batter and a gluten-free version, and the burgers, including a thick-patty burger and a garlic and parmesan chicken burger. Seared salmon, duck, and sea bass cooked perfectly also earn mentions. Several diners with allergies or intolerances say the staff changed the menu and catered well, and one gluten-intolerant visitor enjoyed a gluten-free lager and a shared cheesecake dessert. Reviewers describe friendly staff, well-kept local beer, and a pub that mixes old and new, and one welcomed a dog. The one complaint is parking, which a reviewer called a nightmare. One family held a 95th birthday in a private room for 20+ guests, and the staff checked in without being intrusive and served the food hot and on time.

“We had a wonderful family meal here to celebrate a very special 95th birthday, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! From the moment we started organising the event, the staff were absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were incredibly accommodating, helpful and responsive throughout the whole process, which made arranging everything so much easier and stress-free. On the day itself, the service was excellent. We had a private room (we had 20+ guests), which was perfect for our family celebration, and the staff regularly checked in on us to make sure everything was okay without ever being intrusive. The food was delicious, served hot and right on time, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. A huge thank you to the whole team for helping make such a special occasion run so smoothly. Your kindness, professionalism and attention to detail really made a difference, and we are so grateful. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this pub for family celebrations and would happily return again!”

“Had a lovely Sunday at The Poacher’s Pocket. We came in for a Sunday roast and had a really great time. The roast beef was absolutely delicious and really yummy. My girlfriend had the fish and chips, which was a massive portion and had a lovely crispy batter. She also has a dietary allergy, and the staff catered for this really well, which was much appreciated and made us feel very comfortable. The food was excellent, the portions were generous, and the price was really good for what we had. We’ll definitely be coming back!”
