Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the pub's value, with cheap pints of cider, a mega mixed grill, and a Sunday carvery with a good selection of meats and veg. Rump steaks, a hot and tasty soup of the day, and a chicken tikka with naan and popadom also get mentions. Several describe the staff as friendly and welcoming under the new management, and the sports bar side, with pool, darts and golf on TV, draws comment. One reviewer points to free pool on Thursdays. The complaints are specific. One diner ordered a steak medium rare and received it well done, and another says the revamped menu dropped a favourite peppercorn sauce. One reviewer found a waitress seemingly unwilling to be there and the room cold, with bare windows under high ceilings. Two say the loos need attention, though another found the toilets clean. One jacket potato arrived without the advertised tortillas, reportedly out of stock for weeks, and after the diner asked three times a supervisor settled it with free drinks.

“Whenever we are in Saltash, The Ploughboy is a must visit with the family. The fabulous prices of both the drinks and the food make it a very great family eatery. We feed and water a family of 6 for less than £100 on average. Only disappointment on our last visit was that they have revamped the menu and removed some of our favourite items (including their outstanding Peppercorn sauce). We will definitely revisit when next in Saltash!”

“Food was good (rump steaks) Service terrible, need to improve a lot- waitress acts like she won’t like to be there at all. Atmosphere was unpleasant & cold, mainly because of lack of any window’s decorations in such a high ceilings.”
