About Chung's Chippy
Chung's Chippy is a fish and chips takeaway at 19 Oldfield Rd in Salford that puts Chinese dishes on the same counter as the usual chippy food. That means a customer can order a battered fish supper and chicken fried rice from one place, or add prawn toast to the same order, which suits a group that wants both. Salt and pepper chips are on the list, and a large size is available for sharing. Payment is cash only, so card payments are not accepted.

Customer Review Summary
Salt and pepper chips come up most, with one reviewer calling them quite spicy but very good and another pairing them with salt and pepper chicken nuggets. Close behind is the Chinese menu, where chicken fried rice, noodles, spring rolls, prawn toast and salt and pepper bean curd are singled out, and one diner says the fried rice beats restaurants charging twice as much. A large sausage with homemade gravy earns praise too, along with big portions, friendly staff and quick lunchtime service. Complaints split between food and reliability. One reviewer found the chips dry, withered and tasteless, another thought the beef with chilli tasted nice but was overloaded with food colour, and a third arrived three times in two weeks to find it closed despite the stated hours. One group order for eleven came with loads of prawn crackers.

“Food is actually good but they’re never open when they say they are. 3rd time going in 2 weeks and it’s closed everything - so annoying”

“Best Chinese takeaway I’ve ever experienced. Been closed for a few weeks. We miss you. Hope everything is ok. Please come back soon. Or teach us how to make S&P Bean Curd with Large S&P chips.”

“Ordered here many times, and tonight ordered for a group of 11, was so amazing, quality was incredible, and service was amazing, they gave us loads of prawn crackers! Rice , noodles, spring rolls, and prawn toast are standout.”

“Nice to have a chippy 10mins from work. No issues, food was good-great. Quite spicy salt and pepper chips. But v good. Is cash only. Food was quick at lunchtime.”

“Our local chippy, don’t be fooled by the exterior, the food is awesome. Friendly team of 3, the lady on in the afternoon is so friendly all of the time and the chef/owner really knows how to cook. Highly recommend the chicken fried rice - I’ve paid twice the amount in many Chinese restaurants that are half the quality of this one. Naturally, a little negative could be that they don’t accept card payments, but let’s be honest, let the small business thrive!”
