Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the coffee and cake, with the hot chocolate and a gorgeous cake singled out, and the apple and almond tart called very tasty. Close behind are the cooked breakfasts and lunches: the full English, eggs Benedict and eggs royal (with orange yolks and a later update of brioche loaf and seasoning), and perfect poached eggs. Several describe a wide choice of lunch dishes, generous portions and reasonable prices, served by friendly, efficient staff with a smile. The large outdoor seating area, the garden view and a chilled out feel on a sunny day come up too, and a few mention the campsite and music over a weekend. Some arrived doubtful from the outside, then found it comfortable inside. The one detailed complaint came on a very busy half term day. The wait for food was close to an hour, the chicken burgers had dry buns that were not seeded as the menu said, and the fries arrived in an oil soaked brown bag. That reviewer also found no menu at the outside table and had to go inside for ice cream. Another returned for the full English after a first visit.

“Stopped for lunch but have stayed at the campsite before so knew this would be a good place to take my parents. Excellent food and drink all served by smiling happy staff. Chilled out feel on warm sunny day”

“Never judge a book by it's cover. I've driven past this place 100 times (literally) and never thought much about the cafe. BIG mistake. Annoyingly we'd already had a disappointing breakfast and only called in for a drink. Excellent coffee and the best hot chocolate for miles (maybe except Knoops in Rye), with a gorgeous cake. Plenty of customers there, making for a busy and happy atmosphere. Heading back very soon for a large full English. Not sure I'm doing this right, but I wanted to add that I've been back for the full English and it was top notch. So pleased we chose to come here. 6 of us in all, plus a dog. Couldn't fault a thing. Going again in 2 weeks on our way to Rye. Thanks to the great staff and chef(s).”

“Found this café by accident and from the outside we had our doubts. Not so, inside is rustic, but very comfortable and quite modern. Outside at the back is excellent. Food very good and service top rate. We'll definitely be visiting again”
