About Lilly's Cafe
Lilly's Cafe is a family-run, old-school cafe on Hastings Rd in Cranbrook. The kitchen cooks to order, and the breakfast menu includes full English fry-ups with ham, egg and chips. Sandwiches sit alongside them for a lighter meal, while venison pie and liver and bacon cover the heartier end of the menu. Cakes, including blackberry and apple pie, are baked for the counter. The family describes its approach as home cooked food in generous portions. Bikers out on rides make up part of the cafe's visitors.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the cooked breakfast, a proper fry up that several describe as plentiful, freshly cooked and good value. Riders and families alike say they travel long distances for it, and one calls it what Sunday morning breakfasts are about. Close behind are the home-style dishes and cakes, including a liver and bacon recommended by one reviewer's husband, a venison pie described as remarkable, and a blackberry and apple pie. Sitting outside in the sunshine is a repeated pleasure, and the welcome and service are described as friendly and spot on. One lower review calls the place a typical greasy spoon, with a mediocre ham, egg and chips, ham roughly cut and dumped on the plate, greasy chips, a breakfast that looked poorly presented, and coffee described as naff. Another reviewer on a busy day for the owners noted the young helpers serving breakfasts and clearing up, and suggested a bigger tip tin in a more prominent place.

“Its a typical low quality greasy spoon. Coffee was naff, I had ham egg & chips, my pal had a breakfast. HE&C was mediocre at best, chips greasy, ham was roughly cut and kinda just dumped on the plate no real flavour. Breakfast was the same deal really; plate of poorly presented greasy grub. Staff pleasant enough. Communal cutlery tray mismatched and not especially clean.”
