About Kimbridge Barn
Kimbridge Barn is a cafe and tea room on the River Test in Kimbridge, Romsey, open daily and doubling as a wedding venue that uses its courtyard as part of the setting. Breakfast includes vegan options and egg hollandaise, and a wood log burner sits inside. Afternoon tea is pre-booked and comes with scones, cakes, sandwiches and macarons, while Sunday lunch is a carvery with meats and all the trimmings. On Friday nights the kitchen switches to a pizza menu made in-house, with live music to go with it. A space called The Boot Room hosts events, including a vegan firepit feast with a singer performing. A craft shop on site completes the barn.

Customer Review Summary
Weddings are the most frequent draw, with couples describing a smooth day, effortless communication from first viewing onward, and guests complimenting the barn, the courtyard and the food. Close behind is the food: the Sunday carvery gets praise for its meats and trimmings, with brisket called soft, and one diner says a booking was only available four weeks ahead. Others mention the Friday night pizza with live music in the courtyard, a vegan firepit feast in the Boot Room, vegan and egg hollandaise at breakfast beside the log burner, and schnitzel, haddock and scallops. The caveat centers on afternoon tea. One reviewer waited too long to be greeted and served, and found the loose leaf tea was tea bags and the sandwiches like supermarket ones. Another waited 30 minutes just to give a drink order while later arrivals were served first, and found most cakes dry, though the scones and macarons were incredible. One carvery diner wanted a check back for another round of drinks.

“We had our wedding here in May 2026, booked about 18 months prior. We honestly had the best day, and had so many compliments from guests about the venue. Communication was great from the moment we booked to view the venue, all the way up until the big day. We were sold on the friendly atmosphere, stunning barn & courtyard and the absolutely delicious food. Peter looked after us on the day and we loved him, he calmed our nerves at the start and helped make sure everything ran smoothly so we didn't need to worry about anything. We had so much fun and wish we could do it all over again. Thank you so much 💗”

“Absolutely love this place! The Friday night pizza menu is delightfully simple, and the food is always beautifully cooked — fresh, flavourful, and just the right kind of indulgent. The staff are consistently lovely and welcoming, and the live music adds such a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere. Sitting out in the courtyard with a glass of something bubbly and a slice of delicious pizza honestly best after a week at work. Abbey and Isabel are lovely as always. The quality of the food is really hard to beat and knowing they make it all themselves you can tell they care about the food they serve. Hard place to beat for Friday nights or special occasions really!”

“We love Kimbridge Barn but had wanted to try the Sunday roast for several weeks and were only able to get a booking 4 weeks in advance… so worth it!! Bloody excellent carvery with gorgeous meats and allllll the trimmings! We’ll definitely book again. 😍”

“We waited too long to be greeted and sat down, waited too long to take our pre oder afternoon tea and too long to be served. There felt little engagement from the staff. The loose leaf tea is in fact tea bags and whether they are made by them or not, defeat the entire objective or having loose tea tea. The sandwiches seemed like prepared ones get in supermarkets and the cakes and scone were fine, but for nearly £25 per head this was a very expensive and underwhelming treat, compared to other eating out experiences. To the owner the email address you gave me bounced, please check its correct”

“Booked afternoon tea for 2pm, we were seated and forgotten about, took them 30 minutes to come and just take our drink order. Customers coming in after us got their drinks before we even ordered ours. Food was hit and miss, most of the cakes were dry but the scones and macarons were incredible. Tables were a bit cramped together bur overall nice atmosphere. I would come again but maybe for just a coffee or lunch.”
