Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the gammon and fish and chips as well-cooked, well-served dishes, with several also praising the steak pie as the tastiest they’ve eaten. The Christmas lunch and lasagne earn repeated mentions for quality and value, and many note the friendly, attentive service from the staff. A recurring complaint centers on long waits and kitchen shortages on busy days, with one table reporting a near two-hour delay and orders for burger and roast turkey unavailable, while another describes overcooked sides and burnt elements with a Sunday roast. One diner received a refund for undercooked gammon. Several highlight the welcoming atmosphere for families and assistance dogs, with one reviewer noting a dedicated dog menu.

“I’m hoping we caught them on a bad day, because if this was the usual Sunday service they should consider not offering food. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait. We had 2 tables in our group, placing 2 orders at the same time. One table took 1 hour 25 minutes, the other nearly 2 hours. When chasing up the order, we were pretty much told the kitchen is really busy and that’s just how it is. After about an hour, they told me I couldn’t have the burger I ordered & had to choose something else, then my brother in law was told he couldn’t have the roast turkey he ordered as they ran out. When our meal finally came after nearly 2 hours, the Mac & Cheese wasn’t cooked through & the egg on my gammon was mostly raw. Generally the food was poor. They did refund my gammon, but I would not visit that pub again & probably would not bother with Green King pubs if this is the standard offer. There are many other choices out there!”

“Had a great Saturday lunch at The Victory. Quick service and good value for money. Sonya was especially helpful serving our table, very engaging and happy to help in any way, great service.”

“Enjoyed a fantastic 3 course Christmas lunch. Wonderful food which was great value. All the staff were very friendly (shout out to Sonya). Only gripe (totally out of control of the pub) was that a group of friends let their children use our section of the pub as a creche meaning we cut short our visit as the noise levels were unbearable. But the staff were very apologetic and sympathised with us. It's a great local which we will definitley visit again.”

“Mark and his staff were great . Our food arrived on time and it was very delicious. Very friendly pub with nice surroundings and a great Xmas atmosphere. Will definitely be returning. Well done everybody.”
