About Anne Boleyn

Anne Boleyn is a pub in Rochford on Southend Rd, open daily. Families have a seasonal event to book into with the Easter Breakfast and Egg Hunt for children, which comes with an Easter bunny. The food menu includes the Crown burger, a burger sizzler combo and curry and chips, and a separate dessert menu follows. A midweek two-meals deal runs alongside the regular menu, and Sunday lunch is served with bookings taken. In December the pub puts up Christmas decorations and trees inside and offers a festive menu. Screens carry the latest sports fixtures for the big games.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out friendly, welcoming staff, with several describing patient service for children and a group of 14 on the Christmas festive menu who found the team attentive. Sunday lunch is a repeat draw, including one family who have taken an elderly father several times. Diners also name the crown burger and the burger sizzler combo as good value, along with a midweek two meals deal. Food is repeatedly described as hot and fresh, and one reviewer praised the Christmas decorations. The main complaint comes from two reviewers who found the woman at the bar rude and abrupt. One was refused a cherry Pepsi max, was told an order change was too late because the curry was already cooking, and then received cold chips and curry in a nearly empty pub. The other said the server who brought the food was friendly but the bar exchange spoiled the visit. Another family booked the Easter Breakfast and Egg Hunt, where requested changes were made without fuss and the children got an Easter egg after finishing the hunt.

“The most rudest abrupt lady I have ever had service me at the bar. 06 August 2026, at 13:00. I think staff training needs to be conducted with training the lady to communicate with customers with respect and kindness. Absolutely terrible, why continue to do this job if you clearly don’t want to do it. The staff that came with food could not have been anymore friendly or welcoming. I felt like I could not then enjoy my time due to how I was spoken to and treated.”

“Really great place, staff are so friendly and helpful and I have to say the food is great value and very good indeed. We have taken my elderly father here several times for Sunday lunch and it’s been an excellent experience every time .”

“I booked with my grandchildren for the Easter Breakfast and Egg Hunt on arrival we were welcomed and giving the egg hunt information. Ordering food was easy and they made the changes we requested with no issue. The pub was clean and spacious and a large variety of food and drinks to order from. The Easter bunny was a bonus for the children they had a great time and received an Easter egg once they completed the egg hunt. We will definitely be coming again.”

“Lady behind the bar was incredibly rude, when asked if we could have a cherry Pepsi max she just replied no. Very rude very abrupt later explained that you don’t do them anymore. Within 30 seconds of ordering asked if I could possibly change my order once again was met with a very rude response and that we couldn’t as they had already started cooking it, within 30 seconds… when food was brought to table there was no smile or any type of welcoming behaviour, we was just met with ‘who’s got the curry’. Very disappointed, would understand if you guys were rammed but was 1 of 2 tables in the entire building. Chips were cold and curry was as well. All in all very disappointed won’t be back”
