Quick info
About The Quills Restaurant
The Quills Restaurant is a modern European restaurant at 30-32 High St in Rochester, serving breakfast, lunch and evening dinners. The chicken and bacon waffle, served with chips and maple syrup, is one of the plates that links the morning and main menus. Steak fajitas, ribs, burgers and a seafood combo sit alongside it, while a fried breakfast and an avocado dish cover the morning. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are both on the menu. Staff seat guests on arrival and run table service, and coffee comes with coffee art on top. Tables can be booked in advance, and the restaurant also takes walk-in lunch visits. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often point to the chicken waffle, with one reviewer recommending the chicken and bacon version with chips and maple syrup, while another praises a bacon and chicken club sandwich. Close behind are the fried breakfast, steak fajitas, ribs, a seafood combo and a personalised burger made for a fussy child, described as freshly cooked, hot and generous in portion. The coffees arrive with coffee art on top. Service is a steady theme, with servers called friendly, attentive and quick, and staff greeting guests promptly on arrival. Reviewers describe a welcoming place where the music is not too loud, and one self-described carnivore was surprised to find a varied menu behind a sign implying a vegetarian venue. The complaints are small. One reviewer finds it a tiny bit pricier but says the standard justifies it, another paid extra for gluten free bread that the menu did not mention, and one calls the toilets basic but clean and functional. One server even got the kitchen to make a diner a dessert of their own.

“Our server Fola was amazing! He was so friendly and even got the kitchen to make me my own desert. The owner was so friendly and accommodating!! The food was some of the best food I have had in a long time. This is a must for anyone who is visiting Rochester. If they ever put my desert on the menu, I just ask for it to be called Southern Ala'Mode. 😂😉”

“We celebrated my friends birthday last night (Tuesday 5th May 2026) and from making the initial booking the customer service was excellent. Jack our server for the evening was smartly dressed, greeted us with a smile, asked if we had a table preference and was genuinely a lovely person. Upbeat and happy to engage in conversation about any queries we had about the menu and was attentive and quick with service. The evening was truly lovely and made memorable by Jack's excellent customer service and the food and presentation of the food was amazing. I normally pop in for breakfast with my partner or lunch with my mum so this was my first evening dining experience and I can highly recommend this restaurant as there is something to suit everyone's taste. Thank you for making my friend's birthday memorable.”

“The food was lovely and great portion size. Was a bonus having gluten free bread- paid extra for it but it wasn't mentioned on the menu. The bacon & chicken sandwich wss divine- didnt realise it was a club sandwich- ended up making it smaller in order to eat. Our servers were attentive including Falo. Good food and drink options for everyonem”
