Quick info
About Gurkha Fire
Gurkha Fire is a Nepalese restaurant on New Cut in Chatham that runs with a live singer during service and the head chef personally visiting tables. The kitchen covers Indian and Nepali dishes side by side, with chicken momo and biriyani among the choices, and signature plates such as Pani Puri and chicken Dilwala drawing repeat attention. The drinks list includes a cotton candy cocktail and mango and lime cider. Birthdays flagged in advance come with a complimentary dessert and a bottle of prosecco to take home. Reservations are required, and the room tends to fill up at busy times. Diners order from a menu that also stretches to loaded fries and cheese and truffle naan, with a fondant to finish. The combination of live music, a chef who greets tables, and a menu that crosses Indian and Nepali territory gives the place its own character on the New Cut stretch in Chatham.

“I visited Gurkha today because I had heard that they serve both Indian and Nepali food, so I was really looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my experience. I can’t comment much on the Nepali food, but if you are going there specifically for **Indian food, I would honestly not recommend it**. The food did not taste like authentic Indian food to me — there was very little flavour or aroma, and almost all the gravies tasted unusually sweet. I also felt that the **portion sizes were quite small considering the prices**. I ordered chicken momo as well, but I could hardly taste or feel any chicken inside the momos. Overall, the food was not up to my expectations and I left feeling very disappointed. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and improves the flavour, portions and quality of the food.”

“Went her for my birthday dinner, everything was spot on. Both the chef and the owner checked on us and our meal. The young lady serving us was brilliant and so kind. Really made the whole experience special. The food and the cocktails were the best Ive had in Medway in a long time. Truly enjoyed every bite and sip. Can't wait to come back.”

“Fantastic restaurant with amazing food! Highly recommend! This was our first visit and we will definitely be returning! We started with a lovely cotton candy cocktail and mango and lime cider which were both very refreshing and very fairly priced. We tried Pani Puri for the first time and the flavours were immense! The loaded fries were also lovely and fresh with lots of flavour. The mains were 10/10. We got the biriyani, a chicken Dilwala and a pilau rice. Of course we had to try the naans - the cheese and truffle was amazing. All of the food was incredibly hot, fresh and so flavoursome. Portions are a great size. Our server Aarati was very polite and accommodating. Having the chef Keshav come speak to us diners was an added touch and made it feel very welcoming. We finished with a lovely fondant for pudding which again was packed with flavour and was lovely and fresh. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be dining here again! :)”
