About The Kew Greenhouse Cafe
The Kew Greenhouse Cafe is a cafe, bar and tea house at 1 Station Parade in Richmond, set in a plant-filled, greenhouse-style room. A cat lives in the cafe and sits on the tables, and dogs are welcome too, so animal lovers can share the space with their own pets. The kitchen prepares hearty mains alongside homemade cakes and pastries. Tea and cake make a straightforward stop, and the cream tea comes with a scone. Menus are left on the tables rather than displayed behind the glass.

Customer Review Summary
Visitors stopping in after Kew Gardens most often praise the baked goods, with a cream tea built around a huge scone the standout, and bakewell tart and tea with cake close behind. A lunch of tasty quiche with zingy fresh salad is described as lovely and relaxed, and one reviewer calls the oat latte among the best in a while. Several describe the staff as lovely. The criticism centres on the savoury food and value. One group of five found the scrambled eggs on toast and a flat white poor for what they paid, and the coffee went half drunk. Another reviewer found prices high and not displayed by the glass, so a quick grab means finding the menu on the tables. That reviewer also felt staff seemed annoyed, and said hoovering and a very loud blender made conversation hard. The lack of air con in hot weather comes up too, and one diner left for another cafe after the terrace tables were not cleared.

“Popped in for a tea & cake after visiting Kew Gardens. There was cat sitting on one of the tables, they reluctantly removed it, didn’t clean the table. One of the staff petted the cat with the same gloves that they were using to handle the food. When I pointed this out to her, she outright lied. Really gross. Environmental Health need to visit.”

“The review image is from 21 July 2005, yes, 21 years ago, with my gorgeous wife from Saint Petersburg, Russia, when she was only 27 years old. Can you feel the mid-2000s vibes yet?! One of the images still has its 2005 timestamp.”
