About Lee's Garden
Lee's Garden is a family-run Chinese takeaway at 10 The Meadway in Tilehurst, Reading. The kitchen works through a familiar takeaway range, with beef in black bean sauce, chicken chow mein and king prawn curry among the dishes on the menu. Rice and noodle dishes sit alongside the curries, and curry sauce is available as its own order. Customers place orders by phone. The shop opens in the evenings only and stays closed on Tuesdays, with service on the other six days of the week.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the chicken dishes and chicken balls, with chicken and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce, chicken in Malaysian satay sauce and chicken chow mein all named approvingly. Close behind are the king prawn curry, beef curry, beef with peppers in black bean sauce, and an excellent chow mein and seaweed. Several describe the food as fresh, hot and not greasy, with generous portions, fair prices and friendly delivery and counter staff. Speed gets repeated mention, including a quick turnaround on collection. The complaints are sharper. One reviewer found the pork balls partly tough and the BBQ ribs a bit dry, while another reports soggy banana and pineapple fritters, mushy mixed vegetables, and pork with cashews and beef in black bean sauce light on meat, and says the chicken balls were binned. A separate reviewer describes an order cancelled after an hour's wait, with shouting on the phone after asking for no water chestnuts or baby corn. One reviewer also notes that eggs may go into the rice for vegan orders.

“AVOID…LEES GARDEN IS THE BEST CHINESE IN THE AREA. Called for a takeaway and waited an hour so called them and was told it was on its way, waited another 15 minutes and called back, and was told they would not deliver to me and that the order was cancelled, when asked why they said because they didn’t want to do the order because of two many requests (asking for no water chestnuts and baby corn as I cannot eat these) they was really rude shouting down the phone…WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND OR EVER USE THEM EVER AGAIN.”

“Ordered from here with delivery. Majority of food was great - beef curry, chicken chow mein, beef with peppers in black bean sauce. Chicken balls, egg fried rice, curry sauce. Chips not as good as chippy but to be expected. BBQ ribs a bit dry.”

“Bought a takeaway for the first time from here. It was easy to phone my order through. Prices are reasonable and food was good. I had seaweed, pork balls and plain chow mein. Chow mein was excellent as was the seaweed. Some of the pork was really quite tough and hard to eat, but others were fine. Overall very satisfied though and will most likely order again.”

“The best chinese in Reading. Food is delicious, fresh and arrives hot every time. We only order from here now, I really like the King prawn curry, the chicken balls are the best too. Well, every dish that we have tried is mouthwatering. Delivery staff are so polite too. Thank you and see you soon!”

“I haven’t been to Lee’s Garden for over 6 years as I’ve been gluten free, but recently I’ve been eating gluten again to get tested so I have treated myself to a few Chinese takeaways from here again. It has been one of the highlights as the takeaways have tasted as good as I remember! The portions are generous and the food tasted amazing. Chicken & cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce (photo) was always a favourite and it still tastes so good and I tried a new one for me, chicken in Malaysian satay sauce which was lovely too. The service has been great with everything ready on time or delivered on time and smiley, friendly people both on delivery and collection. I will miss my Chinese takeaway but so pleased that Lee’s was as good as I remembered.”
