About Geo Cafe

Geo Cafe sits on Prospect Street and serves Georgian dishes such as adjika chicken and Georgian ratatouille, alongside Russian honey cake and a menu of coffee and iced drinks. An onsite bakery supplies the bread and many of the pastries, including medialuna and sourdough bakes, and air conditioning runs throughout the room. A large car park sits at the back with two entrances, one of which is wheelchair accessible, and dogs are welcome. The café is typically crowded, and a wait is common at peak times.

Customer Review Summary

The single most-praised draw is the onsite bakery, with several reviewers singling out the sourdough and medialuna pastries alongside strong coffee and iced drinks. The air-conditioned interior, friendly service, and dog-friendly setup draw repeated mentions, while one diner found the cooked food underwhelming compared with the bakes.

“Air con, onsite bakery and wonderful drinks. Marvellous”

“Really lovely cafe - bit of a gem in the middle of the depressing Reading. Well positioned with a big car park out the back with two entrances one of which is disability accessible for wheelchair users. It is always crowded in here which is a good sign with a selection of amazing pastries and really good coffee, iced tea. Also dog friendly! Service is always friendly, sourdough bakes are amazing too.”

“If you ever tried true Georgian adjika chicken, or Russian honey cake - don’t come here as it’ll be very disappointing. Not ever nearly as good... Coffee was ok. Atmosphere is great and service is brilliant. Didn’t enjoy the food at all though, but probably should have gone for pastries as they did look nice.”

“The air conditioning is such a bonus. The GeoCafé is still setting the standard for both coffee shops and bakeries, from iced drinks to satisfying cooked breakfasts. This air-conditioned café is a genuine delight. Alot of the coffee chains charge as much but do not come close in food quality or portion size. The outstanding onsite bakery (also air-conditioned!) provides the bread & many of the pastries. The medialuna (solid Spanish-style pastries often mistaken for croissants) are unique, delicious and satisfying. Excellent quality groceries, coffee & pastries much loved by the locals. Remember, most independent businesses have maintained their quality. Their chain rivals are providing less and less of lower and lower quality despite the money they make selling their customers data, and their bulk purchasing and tax advantages. The chains are choosing to increase their prices anyway. This has significantly narrowed that price difference the chains used to claim made them value for money.”

“They had ran out of the dish I’d originally wanted but the chef kindly made us up an amazing Georgian ratatouille which was delicious!”
