About Belle Vue Tavern - Pegwell
Belle Vue Tavern - Pegwell is a pub on Pegwell Rd in Ramsgate, built around a wide decking balcony garden that looks over Pegwell Bay and goes by the name The Balcony of Kent. The sea views continue indoors, where an upstairs restaurant faces the water. The main menu includes haddock and chips and mussels with chips, and Sunday roasts are part of the offer too. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the sea views over Pegwell Bay, seen from the terrace or the upstairs restaurant, where some describe watching the tide go out as birds gather. The food comes close behind, with mussels, haddock and chips, squid, panko prawns, craft burgers and Sunday roasts named, plus a Thursday steak night where one medium rare steak arrived a little overdone but still tasty. Friendly, welcoming service comes up repeatedly, and a few mention free parking and a pub that welcomes children and dogs. Several suggest booking a table for weekends and for dinner upstairs. The one serious complaint is from a group of six who booked a birthday lunch for a roast dinner, ordered a round of drinks, and were only then told the roasts had run out. They felt walk-ins were favoured over bookings, saw other booked tables turned away the same way, and left to eat elsewhere. They also felt a manager should have come to apologise.

“Very disappointing experience at The Bellevue today. We booked a family birthday lunch for 6people for 2:15 all wanting a roast dinner. We arrived & were shown to our table & ordered drinks before ordering food. The waiter came to take our food orders to then tell us at this point that they had run out of roasts dinners. We were all disappointed as that's why we had booked. The waiter was very apologetic & explained that we should have booked earlier as they get walk-ins. We had tried to book earlier but the system only offered 2:15 as the earliest time. So if you walk in, you get a roast dinner, but if you book, you don't.??? How is that right?? Also not happy that we wasn't told until after we ordered a round of drinks totalling £34. We also witnessed other tables coming in that had booked & were told the same. Some of them walked out, which is what we did. Don't know what went wrong, maybe bad planning on the chefs part??as there are so many positive reviews on here. Its not fair that the waiters had to deal with so many unhappy diners today & the manager should have been around to apologise. We ate elsewhere & will have 2nd thoughts about coming back.”

“Couldn't speak highly enough about the pub. The food was fantastic and the staff were probably the most attentive and organised group I have seen for a long time. Of course the experience was made better by a stunning view. I couldn't recommend the Belle Vue Tavern enough!”

“Delicious cuisine, welcoming service, and breathtaking views of the sea. Reserve a table upstairs for dinner, enjoy delicious meals, and watch the tide go out as many birds congregate. There is plenty of free parking, and the personnel is kind and competent. I've seen a lot of the South Coast, so if you're nearby, I think this is a hidden gem.”

“Went with friends for steak night Thursday and we all had all enjoyed them. My medium rare was a little over done but still tasty. Nice pub with a great views.”
