About Rainhill Fish Bar
Rainhill Fish Bar is a fish and chips takeaway in Prescot, at 570 Warrington Rd, and it opens daily. The menu centres on fish and chips, with curry sauce as an accompaniment to chips and peas as another side. A fishcake and a chicken kebab give customers alternatives to the main fish order. The shop is a takeaway, so food is ordered at the counter and taken away. Orders can also be phoned in for collection. Anyone ordering in person should expect a queue at the counter.

Customer Review Summary
Fried fish is the main draw, with one reviewer praising the freshest fried fish around after repeated stops on the way back from football, and another who still calls the fish a must while criticising the service. Happy diners also mention good chips, a wide range of food, and staff who pointed out a larger portion of fries that was better value. Reviews split sharply, though, and complaints outnumber the praise. Several say the shop has gone downhill or ask if it has new management. Service draws the most criticism. Customers who phoned ahead report being served after walk-ins, one waited over 20 minutes for just chips and describes an aggressive reply from a staff member, and another says a large order promised quickly became a half hour wait. Food complaints are specific: a grey, tasteless fishcake greasy enough to wring out, a rock hard burnt pie, hard chips, grey rice, curry sauce called vile, and a chicken kebab that went straight in the bin. One reviewer left and went to Sea Breeze instead.

“The last time I went to that chippy was many many years ago and it was run by different people I didn't realise it had changed so much. I got curry rice and chips, I eat some of the chips I put the rest in the bin. Rice was grey looking and I don't like that lumpy curry and the chips were hard. I only went because cosmos was shut until June.”

“I went here the other night and ordered fish and chips which was cooked for about the third time no fish just sloppy batter and as well as the chips and we ordered a chicken kebab which went straight in the bin, would not recommend to anyone or return to this place!”

“Absolutely shocking customer service by ALL staff. Serving everyone before us despite us having phoned AND waited in the queue. When we asked them about it, they were so rude. Went to Sea Breeze instead and got far better service. Certainly won’t be coming back here.”

“waited over 20 minutes for a portion of chips when the gent reminded one of the women that we and another girl had been waiting on just chips the women clapped back at him aggressively about “well they can wait i’ve got no chips” don’t think it takes 20 minutes to fry some anaemic chips”
