What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention steak pie, fish and chips, lamb shank and baked brie.
Customer Review Summary
Steak pie is the dish diners mention most, praised for good meat, gravy flavour and decent pastry. Close behind are the fish and chips, where reviewers single out the fluffy, crispy chips and the dill batter, and the lamb shank, called tender and lovely, which one party was able to order at lunch even though it is a dinner item. Others name the warm baked Brie, the Gambas in garlic sauce, a Cajun burger, a burger topped with calamari rings, arancini and sticky toffee pudding, though one found the pudding a tad too sweet. One repeat visitor keeps ordering the seafood pasta. The caveats are small but specific: one reviewer found the wine selection weak, another noted the vegetables came plain steamed on the side, and one diner sent food back multiple times, though that reviewer called the service impeccable and said the bill was sorted accordingly. Service is otherwise described as friendly and attentive, and one family recalls staff singing happy birthday to the wife.

“Food is tasty and well executed. Last orders 8.30p but we called ahead and they were able to wait up for us for a little while extra. Warm Brie was good, creamy and flavorful. Steak pie was enjoyable - good meat and gravy flavor, pastry was decent too. Chicken supremes were juicy and flavorful. Portion sizes reasonable. Service was generally good, maybe just one somewhat stiff staff member. Ambiance ok. This is a great choice in the area, recommend.”

“This place was highly recommend so i booked a table,as it knew it was hard to get a table and we all really looking forward to it as we heard the food was Great...BUT,it wasn't.That said,i think the chef was maybe having a bad day unfortunately we had to send back food multiple times. That said the restaurant was nice, service was impeccable and our Bill was sorted accordingly. That said I would definitely give it another chance as the service was worth giving it a chance.Or maybe we are just to picky.”

“Got the arancini for an appetizer and it was pretty good. For a main, the steak pie was the obvious choice. The vegetables that came with were just plain steamed and on the side of the dish. For dessert, the sticky toffee pudding was good as-well. Not a great selection for the wine however.”

“Stopped in Pitlochry for lunch on the way from Isle of Skye to Edinburgh. Saw pictures of the lamb shank on Google and we just had to get it. It is only on their dinner menu, but when I checked with the staff, they said we could also order it for lunch. We ordered the lamb shank, and a 3 course lunch (soup of the day, beef burger, sticky toffee pudding) for 3 people. (+2 coffees at the end) Portions were generous and the food was delicious and very presentable. The staff were lovely and kind. The ambience and music choice were delightful. There is free parking available behind the restaurant.”
