Customer Review Summary

Grilled meat and sharing platters draw the most praise, with diners describing mixed grill and platters where every piece of meat was soft and well seasoned, and lamb chops and ribs called perfect. The calamari starter, creamy mushroom and baklava also earn mentions, along with generous portions and plenty of bread with dips. Large celebrations come up repeatedly, and two reviewers describe parties of 33 ordering individually yet being served swiftly, with one adding that dishes were adapted for allergies. Service draws a split verdict, though. One group of 16 says its confirmed reservation was met with being told the restaurant does not always honour bookings, after an earlier Christmas booking was reportedly triple-booked. Another reviewer describes a rude, eye-rolling waitress, and a third reports a hair in their pasta and unease over how staff were spoken to. The group of 16 also found a service charge added and items they never received still on the bill, which they had to go through line by line to have removed.

“We had a fantastic time at the Turkish Kitchen to celebrate my Mum’s 80th Birthday with our family. Thank you so much to Izmet and Said for looking after us, we were a large party of 33 and we really appreciate how attentive you were the whole time, ensuring that everyone had exactly what they wanted, checking and adapting dishes for allergies, making sure everyone had drinks and serving the food at the perfect time. Everyone loved the food, it was amazing! So much choice, we all shared huge platters with a variety of meats and starters. I’m so glad we chose to meet and celebrate at the Turkish Kitchen, service and attention and food service quality all superb! Highly recommend and special touches for celebrating birthdays and events. Thank you so so much! 🙏”

“Had an absolutely lovely time at this place for my work colleagues birthday celebration. The food is excellent! Very generous portion sizes and lots of bread with dips. My only piece of advice is to go straight for the main course. The starters were lovely( so tasty good) its just that I didn't get to finish my tasty dish due to being far too full. 🙃 id be delighted to go again.”

“If I could give minus stars I would! A disappointing experience at an “establishment” pthat claims to represent authentic hospitality. I visited this restaurant expecting a warm, welcoming Turkish dining experience, but unfortunately what I witnessed was the complete opposite. During what should have been a pleasant family birthday meal, I was deeply uncomfortable observing the way staff members — particularly younger female employees — were spoken to and treated during their shifts. The atmosphere behind the scenes appeared extremely unprofessional. Staff were publicly reprimanded, spoken to aggressively, and treated with a level of disrespect that no workplace should tolerate. Watching employees being pressured and criticised while trying to do their jobs was uncomfortable, especially in front of paying customers. I was also disappointed by what appeared to be poor management standards. When attempting to raise concerns and speak with a manager, I was simply told that they were “busy”, leaving the impression that customer concerns were not a priority. Food hygiene was another major concern. During my visit, I found a blonde hair in my pasta, which immediately raised questions about kitchen cleanliness and quality control. For a restaurant presenting itself as an authentic dining establishment, basic food safety standards should be non-negotiable. The cleanliness of the dining area also left a lot to be desired. Tables appeared poorly maintained, with a lack of attention to detail that affected the overall experience. A restaurant should not only serve food — it should provide an environment where customers feel comfortable and valued. It is extremely disappointing to see a place that promotes authenticity fall short in the areas that matter most: respect, professionalism, hygiene, and customer care. Good restaurants are built not only on food, but on how they treat both their guests and their staff. For anyone looking for a relaxed meal and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere, I would unfortunately suggest looking elsewhere like Wetherspoons 2 mins up the road.”

“This is always on my top list. If you want meat grilled, cooked to perfection this is the place to be. They also have platters to share with family and friends. One of the best around Peterborough ❤️😘”

“Everything was excellent. Lamb chops and ribs main course was perfect. Calimari starter was excellent. We were in a group of 33 people, who all ordered when we sat down, i.e. not a set menu for all, yet all of the food and drink was served swiftly and no errors. Be proud of yourselves Turkish Kitchen, you are a wonderful restaurant!”
