Customer Review Summary

The lobster and crab ravioli draws the most praise, one diner calling the portion generous and another recommending it outright. Close behind is a dessert of coffee ice cream on chocolate biscotti with meringue, finished with coffee and a shot of sambuca poured at the table. Rare fillet steaks pleased a group of children, and the wine and beer selection earns a mention. Birthdays and large groups run through the reviews, from a private room for friends to a 22 person table that staff made easy to organise. The main complaint comes from one family who found the food lovely but faced a long wait for mains while later arrivals were served first, with their grandson's birthday, mentioned twice, going unacknowledged. Another reviewer notes a busy Friday evening. Elsewhere, staff gathered to wish a birthday guest happy birthday, and one table received an extra dessert.

“Lovely place to eat. Catered well for the two year old who was with us. Food very tasty and freshly prepared. Good selection of wines and beers. It was very busy but it was a Friday evening. Staff very busy but were attentive.”

“Another superior experience at this beautiful restaurant. The staff are always so friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and an extensive wine menu. Highly recommend Mazzo’s whether it’s a catch up with friends, as my visit on this occasion was, a romantic meal for two or a larger party getting together, all are accommodated for.”

“We visited Mazzo in Royton to celebrate my grandson’s 15th birthday. He and his siblings all love good food, and he chose Mazzo after hearing lots of positive things about it, so we were really looking forward to our visit. I had mentioned when making the booking that we were celebrating his birthday, and I mentioned it again to our waiter when he came to take our order. Our drinks and appetisers arrived promptly and everything was lovely. Unfortunately, after that, we waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for our main courses. By this point, my grandchildren were understandably very hungry. My husband asked about the delay and was told that the food was “coming”, but we could see tables who had arrived after us being served before we received ours. When the food finally arrived, it was actually really lovely. The children particularly enjoyed their rare fillet steaks, and we couldn’t fault the quality of the food itself. Sadly, though, the service really let the evening down. What was especially disappointing was that despite mentioning twice that it was my grandson’s 15th birthday, his birthday wasn’t acknowledged at all. I appreciate that restaurants can get busy and delays can happen, but when you’re celebrating a special occasion, it’s the little things that make the experience memorable. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the birthday experience we’d hoped to give him. Lovely food, but the service needs some attention. We wanted to love Mazzo, but on this occasion we left feeling disappointed.”

“Booked a surprise table for my mums birthday last night. Staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and made organising a 22 person table as easy as anything. Nothing was too much trouble, and every single meal was 10/10. Highly recommend the lobster ravioli! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good quality Italian food with exceptional service.”
