Quick info
About Shawarma Haus
Shawarma Haus is a shawarma restaurant at 46 Friar Ln in Nottingham, open daily. Shawarma comes in a box or as a bowl over chips or rice, so diners can choose how they want the meat served. The Lamb Shawarma Box sits alongside chicken shawarma and a Chicken Special, and falafel is on the menu for those who want it. Meat arrives with fresh salad and fries, and a choice of sauces rounds out the plate, with the counter staff on hand to suggest pairings. A lunch discount applies to arrivals at midday. The dining space is small, and music plays throughout.

Customer Review Summary
Diners return most for the shawarma boxes and bowls, whether the lamb shawarma box, the mixed shawarma box, or a three-meat box, praising juicy, tender, well flavoured meat over chips or rice with extremely fresh salad. Portions are described as large and filling, and several call the value good. Close behind are the falafel box, which one reviewer calls genuinely great, the chicken special with nicely roasted potato, and a Mediterranean takeaway with fresh, varied ingredients. Reviewers repeatedly mention friendly staff and a clean, calm shop for eating with friends. The caveats are specific. One regular says that on busy nights and sporting nights the food seems aimed at drunk crowds and loses flavour. Another, calling in late after a show, reports that most items were out of stock, that the bill came to double what they expected, and that the food was disgusting and went in the bin. Another visitor notes the server gave good sauce recommendations.

“Really nice chilled place to visit with friends for a quick and affordable bite. The staff are always so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. I went for the mixed shawarma box and honestly, it was so filling I was completely full afterwards! The quality of the meat was amazing, really juicy, tender, and packed with flavour. Definitely a spot I’d recommend if you’re looking for great food at a good price. 😋”

“Good portion, very nice meat and rice. Good amount of sauce too.”

“I go here every so often, and I find that in quiet nights the food is great. On busy nights it sometimes feels like they are appealing to drunk crowds and sacrifice flavour. On a chill night, I couldn't rate this place highly enough, but I hope they maintain quality on weekends or sporting nights in future. Still great value though”

“Called in late after a show ,everything we ordered was out of stock ( not came in on the delivery 🤣) so instead of paying £10-£20 we ended up paying double & it was disgusting all went in the bin when we got back to the hotel. So not only do they rip you off they sell disgusting food”

“One of the BEST shawarmas I've ever had! Delicious, juicy meat with fresh cool salad in my bowl over chips. I prefer chicken but the lamb meat is really nice too over the rice in the bowl.”
