About Rakki Rakkas
Rakki Rakkas is a large Turkish restaurant on the main road at 575a Mansfield Rd in Nottingham. Complimentary dips, bread and salads come to the table as a free starter, so every meal begins with something to share. The mains include a mixed kebab with doner and chicken, served with either chips or rice and a salad, and a lamb shish. Sharing platters are ordered for group and birthday meals, and the restaurant takes bookings for both. Walk-ins are seated straight away without a reservation. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Sharing platters draw the most attention, with reviewers calling them huge, enough for a table of ten including teenagers, or for at least three people from a single platter. Close behind are the free dips, flatbread, bread and salads that arrive at the table, which several diners call delicious. Individual dishes named include the lamb shish, described as tender and juicy, the halloumi wrap, the meze selection, and a mixed kebab of donner and chicken served with chips or rice. Service is described as friendly, quick and attentive, with servers who were funny and welcoming to large groups and birthday dinners. One diner says the kitchen catered for a coeliac husband with a vast choice on the menu. The one negative comes from a reviewer who found the main dishes poor: the meat and chicken did not seem fresh, the ketchup was watery, and the chips tasted of burnt oil. The same reviewer found the toilets not clean and felt quality had declined. Several others mention leaving with leftovers in a takeaway box because the portions were so large.

“The service and starters were good, but unfortunately the main food was not good at all. This restaurant used to be much better before, but it seems the quality has clearly declined. The meat and chicken did not seem fresh, the ketchup was very watery, and the chips tasted like they had been cooked in burnt oil. The toilets were also not clean. Honestly, I was surprised by the very high rating compared with my experience, so I would advise visitors to be careful and read several reviews before going. I hope the management improves the food quality and cleanliness back to the standard it used to have.”

“First time visiting- won’t be the last! Highly recommend the halloumi wrap! Free delicious starters too. Good prices and huge portions- had to take some of it home! Lovely service, really funny waitresses and a warm atmosphere. Didn’t need to book, but would recommend.”

“We booked for a joint birthday dinner and the staff were amazing, I can’t thank you guys enough! We felt so welcome and well looked after. The food was also unbelievable, and we will definitely be returning. The complimentary bread, dips, and salads were so lovely and I would highly recommend the platters too! Thank you all again!”
