About Sexy Mamma Love Spaghetti

Sexy Mamma Love Spaghetti is an Italian restaurant in Nottingham, at 3 Heathcoat St, built around a small menu of fresh pasta that changes. Because the menu is short, the kitchen focuses on a few dishes at a time, with tortellini, ravioli and spaghetti among the pasta formats. Anchovy spaghetti is one of the plates, and a burrata starter and bread served with the pasta round out the table. Tiramisu and panna cotta cover dessert. Tables cannot be booked, so the restaurant takes walk-ins only. It opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays. Seating downstairs is at high tables with stools, close to the stairs.

Customer Review Summary

Tortellini draws the most mentions, with reviewers praising the beef filling and the freshly made pasta, though one found the whole dish very spicy and otherwise unflavourful. Close behind are the anchovy spaghetti, which one reviewer highly recommends, and the king prawn spaghetti and garlic and chilli prawns, called great and superb. Truffle ravioli, tiramisu and panna cotta also earn praise, one diner noting the panna cotta's lemon flavour. Service divides reviewers. Several describe welcoming, friendly staff and food arriving quickly, while others report an unsmiling, hurried or rude waitress, and one says a head chef yelled at kitchen staff in front of customers. The sharpest food complaints come from two reviewers: a watery, bland risotto, and overcooked, slimy pasta that seemed shop bought, plus a small salami starter. Others mention a cramped downstairs, loud music and poor lighting. One couple were given bread free of charge to mop up their pasta.

  • I love good food very much
“I have eaten here around 3-4 times during my stay in Nottingham. I love Italian food, ravioli and spaghetti so much and recommend for those who never try Italian food before because I think the food here is not hard to understand. Some of the food is bland but some is delicious especially ravioli. Moreover, you must try tiramisu, it’s delicious. However, the restaurant needs to change their service. The staffs are not nice and unwelcoming as they are not smile, hurrying everything, not even explain when me and my friends asked about the food. Plus, one time when we ate inside, head chef? (may be im not sure) yelled at his employees (in the kitchen) really loud in front of customers which I think it’s unpleasant thing to hear and watch he did that. So, after that time, I always sit outside to avoid hearing and seeing that.”

“We went in because aesthetically the restaurant seemed nice and authentic, but we left extremely disappointed. The waitress was rude from the beginning and avoidant. We ordered two mains. The filling of the tortellini was good, but the whole dish was very spicy, unflavourful otherwise, not what you would expect from an Italian dish and not how it was described on the menu. The risotto was watery, almost like a soup, bland, no taste, just plain boiled rice. The place looks better than it is.”

“A lovely setting, love the small changing menu of simple dishes, nice service - But yikes, the food! The pasta seemed to me like shop bought dry pasta (same as the packets they have on display!!) Overcooked and slimy. The salami starter was small for the price/quality and came with shop bought slices of chorizo and a bit of grated cheese Could be so nice but better, fresh ingredients needed imo”

“Wonderful lunchtime date. Beautiful authentic food, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The garlic and chilli prawns were superb. Had a wonderful homely, family feel about the place. Will certainly be back.”
