  “Remember - I am a bit of a foodie so can be a little critical. First time at Bar Gigi’s for a birthday celebration - good location, staff were welcoming, very friendly and helpful. The food - tasty dish of buttery olives (a little bread alongside would have been welcomed) then to start we had scallops with sweetcorn which was cooked perfectly and a great combination; the lamb raviolo which went so well with thyme and again was delicious. For mains the herb-crusted pork with apple was packed with flavour; the duck with duck leg confit bon bon and seasonal beets was good overall although let down by the beetroot, which was disappointingly flavourless (need to source some good fresh beetroot and cook fresh). We chose the Parmesan parcels (amazing - definitely have again) and the zucchini which was OK but needed more seasoning and perhaps something zesty to make it a little more interesting. For desserts the tiramisù was excellent and the chocolate fondant good too (let down a little by cherries that were again underwhelming in flavour) and paired well with a surprisingly not too sweet gelato which was great! The wine list was extensive and the white we chose was a success. I wanted a single glass of red with my duck but only two by the glass on the list and neither was great - thankfully tasted beforehand - I do not understand having good quality food and mediocre house wines by the glass (even the waiter said he didn’t think much to the chianti!). I was not going to buy a full bottle just for myself. I was offered a reasonable Cabernet franc using a Coravin but not really my first choice. We opted to have a glass of dessert wine - 4 on the list but only 2 in stock so we just had the one as the two probably would not have paired with my rich chocolate pudding. So, would we go back - YES - this is good quality food overall, at a price though and hopefully with a few tweaks and improvements 5 stars next time.”

  “We decided to go here to celebrate my partners birthday. Immediately on entering the restaurant we were both impressed with the decor and ambience. We were shown to our table, and the menu was explained in detail. We set about ordering the scallops, the prawns, the Parmasan parcels, the duck, and the pork. When you go to a restaurant like this and pay good money you expect good food, and I can honestly say that I could not find a fault with anything. It was all expertly presented, and tasted fabulous. We had a really nice wine to accompany our food, and will definitely be having that again. Our waitress was Alexa, and she was extremely attentive, and very helpful. It was nice to practice my Italian while I was there to. All in all, a fabulous evening, abd we will definitely be going back. 10/10. Gratzie millie 💖 👏”

  “Just had lunch here for a celebration. The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. Advice was knowledgeable and helpful. The food was spot on. The courses were all superbly cooked and presented. The burratta and nectarine salad was a superb way to start lunch. My Sea Bream had a crispy skin and the courgette flower was stuffed with melt in the mouth wild garlic sauce. Dessert- superb, seasonal and delicious We will be back. Thank you for a superb lunch.”

  “We had the most incredible meal here last night, we had clients over from America and we asked if it was possible to have a tour of the caves and Gabriella happily obliged. The welcome was so warm, the service was great and the food was just delicious - every single dish. Highly recommend!”
