About Fox Cafe

Fox Cafe is a cafe on Pelham St in Nottingham, serving breakfast and lunch alongside coffee drinks. Fox-themed decor and artwork fill the space, giving the small room its character. The menu covers paninis, sandwiches, and cheese and charcuterie boards, with a yogurt, fruit and granola option for breakfast and vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free choices alongside hot chocolate. Seating is available both inside and outside, so outdoor dining is an option, and the wheelchair-accessible, step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs. High chairs are on hand for families with young children, and dogs are welcome in the cafe. The room is small and seating is limited, so a wait for a table can happen during busier periods. It opens daily, and reservations are recommended given the compact size of the space.

Customer Review Summary

Coffee draws the most consistent praise at Fox Cafe, with reviewers repeatedly singling out the cappuccino and hazelnut lattes as standouts, alongside a hot chocolate made with oat milk that one diner called a highlight. Close behind, the food earns steady approval: the vegan board, granola with yogurt, and a brie, walnut and chilli jam panini all get called out by name, and multiple reviewers note the cafe handles vegan, vegetarian and gluten free requests well, though one gluten free diner wished for a cheese replacement to open up more of the menu. Several mention the small, busy space with limited seating and unheated toilets in cold weather, and one visitor found the kitchen smell strong inside. A more serious complaint comes from one reviewer who describes being seated at an uncomfortable table near a cold open door, receiving bland food with soggy hash browns and no butter, and encountering staff they felt were dismissive. Most others, though, describe the staff as friendly and the breakfasts as generously portioned, with several saying they plan to return.

“Close to perfect experience, the cafe has a nice atmosphere. Getting gluten free food was easy but they didn't have any cheese replacement. A lacto-free cheese would have unlocked almost the entire menu for me but as is I can only order a couple of things. Asking for 'no cheese' seemed like it would throw off the flavours of the sandwiches so I'd love to see this option in future!”

“Visited Fox cafe today, lovely and warm service from Holly. She recommended me the veggie platter which was great! Thanks to the chef, Rio.”

“I just got back from visiting the UK for almost 2 weeks and I went to this café nearly every single day and probably looked more American than any other American guy that goes in there. This place was awesome. I totally didn’t try anything else except the yogurt parfait, a mocha, and a sparkling water every day. If you visit Nottingham, go here. The staff is friendly, even by British standards, and it’s just a cute little place to start your morning. If you don’t go here, you’re probably making a huge mistake and you should reconsider your life decisions, because this place is phenomenal.”

“My friend loves this place and so it had a lot to live up to; we went for breakfast but because it was sooo hot i didnt fancy something hot but so many other things got my attention .. i almost had lemon tart but the smell of brie won me over and i had a brie walnut and chilli jam panini was fantastic.. granted not everyones idea of breakfast but with the whole menu available it was great.. we timed it perfectly as we had put our order in by the time the masses arrived .. it did get a bit busy; nice team, lovely food.. my mate was a bit gutted the ac wasnt on when we arrived and inside was warm so we sat outside - i was happy, its a bit darker inside (fab decor tho)”

“Lovely cafe with lots of drink options. I had a caramel oat latte, but there are so many different variations, teas, smoothies, etc. Limited vegan options for food but what I had was very good. The food is also presented nicely. Staff were friendly and pleasant, and service was fairly quick. This cafe is also dog friendly.”
