Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return to the steak, with the fillet and its red wine and peppercorn sauce described as cooked to perfection, and the sea bass and a centre-cut fillet with chips and creamed spinach also praised. Close behind are the starters: roast scallops called the best one reviewer has had, crispy duck salad, salt and pepper squid and cheese soufflé. The chocolate bombe dessert and crème brûlée draw praise, as do Old Fashioned and Negroni cocktails. Several mark birthdays and anniversaries, and the restaurant brought out a small apple cake or something sweet at the end. Reviewers also describe a colourful, relaxed room and friendly table service. The complaints are specific. One diner found the rösti with the scallops soft and swampy, and another called a lobster risotto tiny for its price and a chocolate dessert underwhelming. A third found the food bland and the profiteroles stiff and stale. A 12.5% service fee on the bill is raised twice, and one diner had it removed after pointing it out.

“Pleasantly surprised. We had the cheese soufflé, sweet potato curry and rice, crispy duck salad, centre-cut fillet steak with chips and creamed spinach, strawberry pavlova and crème brûlée. All lovely. Genuinely super nice. The Negroni and Old Fashioned to start were also very good. Nice bottle of Chablis, good coffee. Attentive and friendly table service. Nice ambience. Busy, for a Monday night. Strong recommendation. ♡♡♡♡♡♡”

“I had my very first birthday celebration in the UK at The Ivy Norwich, and it became one of my most precious memories here. The restaurant has such a beautiful atmosphere, and every member of the staff was elegant, welcoming, and genuinely polite, making the whole experience feel very special. The sea bass and the steak were both outstanding—I would highly recommend trying them. What touched me the most was that after the staff quietly found out it was my birthday, they surprised me with a small apple birthday cake. I wasn’t expecting it at all, and it made the evening even more memorable. Thank you to everyone at The Ivy for making my first birthday in the UK so unforgettable. I will definitely be back!”

“This restaurants interior design is fantastic. Lots of colour and fantasy, still stylish. But, how did you think when they made sofas lower than the chairs? Tables were much too high for the sofa. You sat with your nose just above the table. Incredibly difficult to use knife and fork when arms are basically under the table. Staff were attentive and also helped me making ny choice. Had their Roasted scallops with Crisp Rösti. Scallops were ok but the Rösti was a complete mess. Soft and swampy, not crisp at all. More like a round pile of mashed potatoes. What a disappointment! When bill arrived they had spiced it with 12% service fee, without asking! A very rude thing to do. If I want to leave a tip thats up to me. Definitely not like to be forced. They took it off when I made a remark. But of course at this stage I had no wish to leave a tip, even though service had been good. And no wish to come back.”

“Lovely meal for a friend's birthday, with great service for a large group. The roast scallops starter was the best scallops I've ever had, and the Korean chicken salad was very tasty.”

“We had a fantastic evening for my grandma's 96th birthday. All of the staff made it such a memorable evening and the food was fantastic! The chocolate bombe dessert is amazing! We will definitely be returning.”
