Customer Review Summary

Breakfast and coffee draw the most praise, with reviewers naming the smoked trout, a bacon sandwich, a bacon and egg croissant, and an oat milk gingerbread latte one reviewer calls some of the nicest oat milk they have tasted. Close behind is the steak, described by one diner as one of the best things they have eaten and bought by another to cook at home. Reviewers also mention lunch small plates, the roast dinner, and lamb and beef from an open-fire BBQ evening. Farm shop produce such as good quality mince, a relaxed countryside setting, and a children's party where the kids played in the field out back round out the praise. The recurring complaint is service. One diner's food arrived well after the coffee with no apology, and another was twice handed other tables' dishes, though the charming staff were forgiven. One guest who could not swap in scrambled eggs had them served separately, and another finished the meal chatting with the chef on the way out.

“Brilliant place! I wrnt last week eith a friend to try the red barn out and I tried the steak. I never really go for steak but it was one of the best things ive ever eaten! Had my second visit today with my dad. Lovely little place and although the food is a little higher in price than some places, the food quality is excellent and delicious! Nice that it is locally sourced too. So i definitely think its worth the price. Staff are super friendly and polite as well and I will be returning again soon!”

“Delicious coffee and bacon sandwich. The service needs some attention. The food arrived 20 mins after the coffee with no apology for the delay. It would have been good to have the option of both arriving together. I must stress though that the food is very impressive”

“Great casual spot for lunch. Food was amazing! Very tasty, simply presented to allow the quality of the ingredients to shine. Very enjoyable shared meal in a relaxed unhurried setting. Service slightly chaotic, twice other people dishes were presented to us, but the serving staff were charming so totally forgiven (lamb that we hadn’t ordered looked very good!) Chatting with the chef as we left was an added bonus. Wonderful countryside location … we will be back!”

“I have been here now a few times and everytime it has been great. The lunch small plates are so tasty as it the roast dinner. It is a lovely little spot there has great atmosphere, and very reasonably priced. And they sell some produce, can say the mince is really good quality. Would definitely recommend.”
