Quick info
About Coffee on the Corner Chapel House
Coffee on the Corner Chapel House bakes its cakes and tray bakes on site, and the dessert counter at this coffee shop and breakfast restaurant on Allerdale Drive in Newcastle Upon Tyne also sends out large cheese scones to take home. The kitchen serves an all day breakfast alongside hot savoury plates, with sandwiches and wraps made fresh and salad on the side, and cheesecake sits among the bakes. Coffee and tea are ordered at the till, and the place runs on walk ins rather than bookings. It is a small corner site next to elderly housing, so tables inside can fill at busy times, while a step free entrance keeps the door reachable for visitors with mobility needs. Seating outside gives the option of eating in the open in good weather, high chairs suit families with young children, and dogs are welcome. Opening runs Monday to Saturday in the daytime, with Sundays closed, and takeaway covers anyone eating off site.

“We came here for an early lunch...decided to try the chicken salad and a chicken tikka wrap. Firstly the wrap though been quite a size was lacking what I would say was chicken ...we can't eat what I would call the plastic unreal meat that is so far from being a chicken and more just processed much...which by the way the meat was cubed ...same for the salad...cubed diced meat...does not look appealing in the least. Is this meat processed as should be stated as we have medical needs where we can not eat anything processed...especially cheap and nasty meats. Wrap was left ...salad was OK apart from the meat...that ain't no chicken....!!!”

“What a gem! Food is delicious! We chose the homemade cheese scones and vegetable soup. We will need to return to get the cakes!”

“Tiny place on the corner but you have to get in here. Proper home made pies, proper cakes and a food that tastes great. A nice reminder that real food is so good compared to all the stupid chain franchises. Most of the cakes are knee tremblingly good!”

“2025.06 Coffee on the Corner. I have seen giant scones on my travels before but none that I can remember as big as the ones here, I struggled to put it away but was determined not to waste a crumb. Despite the size it held together well and was as tasty as it looked, the cappuccino was also superb.”
