About Mullins Brasserie

Mullins Brasserie is a Caribbean restaurant at 6 Market Pl in Margate, set in a beamed dining room with black leather chairs. The kitchen serves curried goat and jerk chicken, and the jerk chicken comes with rice and peas and a side of fried plantain. Banks lager from Barbados is poured by the bottle, so the Caribbean food has a Barbadian beer alongside it. Red wine is also offered by the half carafe for anyone who wants a glass of something else with the meal.

Customer Review Summary

Jerk chicken is the dish reviewers raise most, called spicy but just right and excellent with rice and peas and fried plantain, though one found it dry and lacking flavour. Close behind are the mahimahi, cooked to perfection, and the curried goat. Friendly service is common praise, but one diner reports a long wait for mains and gritty mussels, and another notes smaller portions.

“Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. The food was very tasty and made with lovely-quality ingredients, and everything was enjoyable. The portions are on the smaller side, though, so it may not be the best choice if you’re looking for a hearty or especially filling meal.”

“Stumbled upon Mullins last night, the menu looked very appealing, we were not disappointed, staff were friendly and attentive, good choice of Caribbean food kn the menu, nice and clean surroundings with a very relaxed atmosphere. I had the mahimahi which was cooked to perfection, the accompanying sauce, patchouli and potatoes were also perfectly cooked. Hubby had the jerk chicken, he said it was spicy but just right. We shared a half carafe of red which was great value. I'd definitely recommend Mullins”

“Lovely meal and really friendly service. I did initially have concerns after feeling unwell later that evening, but after speaking with the restaurant and thinking about it properly, it seems much more likely we’d picked up a sickness bug. They were really helpful and reassuring when I contacted them. Would happily return again 😊”

“Popped in on a Wednesday lunchtime, quick and friendly service. The food was excellent, I had the jerk chicken, rice and peas and fried plantain and a nice bottle of Banks lager from Barbados.”
  • Andy Hedge
“Really poor. From the disinterested, “sit where you like” welcome and the sticky tables; to the ultimately disappointing food - not to mention the exceptionally long wait for our mains. The starters were bland and deep fried - but that could have just been bad choices on our part. As for the mains, the curried goat went down well, but the mussels were gritty and tasteless and the jerk chicken was dry and lacked any depth or flavour. Nothing looked as appealing or elegant as the photos on the website and the restaurant manager seemed more interested in chatting with his mates than providing any level of service or good dining experience. Obviously won’t be returning and absolutely don’t recommend.”
