About Panda Chinese Takeaway

Panda Chinese Takeaway is a Chinese takeaway in Margate, at 172 Canterbury Rd. The menu includes chow mein noodle dishes, crispy chilli beef and spring rolls, with chips and curry sauce for those who want fries rather than Chinese-style chips. Every order comes with free fortune cookies and prawn crackers, and delivered meals arrive in a thermal, heat-retaining bag. The takeaway serves evenings only and closes on Tuesdays, so it suits an after-work or weekend dinner at home on the other six days.

Customer Review Summary

Reviews split sharply, but the most repeated praise is for the delivery and the noodle dishes, with the chow mein singled out as flavoursome and the noodles and spring rolls called outstanding. Reviewers also name the tom yum soup, kung po chicken, ribs and custard steamed buns, and several describe delivery arriving hot, around half an hour, with a friendly driver and free prawn crackers, fortune cookies and a thermal bag. Close behind, the crispy chilli beef divides opinion: one finds it tasty but wanting more heat, while another calls it rubbery and soggy. The negative reviews are detailed. Diners describe dry, hard chilli and honey chicken, greasy prawn toast and chops, a crispy wonton that was mostly paper, and sauces that tasted watery or rubbery. Chips and curry sauce draw complaints for being overcooked, hard and cold, and one reviewer says delivery took an hour. Several of the one-star reviewers say they will not order again, while one happy reviewer was handed a free panda pen with the order.

“Pretty good Chinese food. Easy online ordering and it was ready in 25 minutes. The shrimp in the chow mein tasted ok - maybe could have been cooked a tad longer. The duck and vegetables mix was pretty good. Will try again in the future.”

“The chilli and honey chicken was dry hard and we just threw away. Sharing starter poor chop quality greasy and again threw away. Seaweed hardly crispy. Prawn toast greasy all in all a very poor quality Chinese meal. Won’t be using again.”
  • Helen Urwin
“Rubbery and soggy crispy chilli beef and tasted horrible. Weird tasting sweet and sour pork. Chicken that was in the noodles and rice was so dry and tasted old. Anything with sauce was rubbery, and the rice and noodles dry and no depth of flavour. Couldn't eat it. Also took an hour to be delivered”

“My last review vanished? It stated the food was the worst Chinese takeaway I have ever had and I binned it. 0 flavour and not normal consistency. That was a year ago but never going back.”

“We always order from here now, it's only down the road but the food is always good and seems more fresh compared to other Chinese takeaways we've ordered from. Delivery is always within 30 mins and tonight the food turned up packaged in a proper thermal panda printed bag, as well as a free panda pen 🤣 and the usual free fortune cookies (which no other Chinese takeaways seem to do anymore) and prawn crackers that they give you too. Thought it was a nice touch, highly recommend this place ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”
