About New China Inn
New China Inn is a Chinese restaurant in Broadstairs, at 8 Charlotte St, serving food that runs spicier than "British spicy", which suits diners who want more heat in their dishes. The shredded chilli beef carries that approach, and the spicy prawn curry sits among the Thai curries on the menu. Crispy duck covers the more traditional side, and fried rice and noodles are there to go alongside. Tables are available for dining in, and orders can also be placed by phone. The restaurant opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to spicy, well-cooked Chinese dishes, led by the shredded chilli beef, called really crispy with just the right amount of chilli. Close behind are the crispy duck, described as the best in years, plus the salt and pepper ribs, spicy prawn curry and sweet and sour chicken balls. One reviewer says the heat is hotter than "British spicy" without being overwhelming. Several mention hot food, generous portions, quick service and polite staff, while one calls the atmosphere a bit odd because it was very quiet. The negative reviews are specific. One describes a Thai red curry with frozen chicken, warm tinned pineapple and boil-in-the-bag style rice. Another found the fried rice mushy with a few boiled peas and the beef curry flavourless. A third reports stone cold food, no spice, tough meat and feeling sick after a few mouthfuls. One late-night customer who had not paid over the phone says the woman taking the order told them to come in and pay the next day, and they did.

“Usual Chinese was closed, wished we went for fish and chips. Food stone cold. No spice in my Husband's meal. I had 5 mouthful and sicked it back up. Meat tough and not pleasant. Avoid. Waste of money . Disgusting food.”

“Very disappointing . Ordered late Sunday night Fried rice just tastes of bland over cooked boiled rice that had gone to mush with a few boiled peas in it. Beef curry had no flavour at all. More flavour in the packet in my cupboard. My partner is a big guy and very rarely leaves a plate. But even he only had a a couple of mouths. If we were sitting in would have ask for money back. Photo of what we left”

“A simple restaurant with superb Chinese food. We enjoyed a delicious meal last night, two starters, then crispy duck (best we have had for years) and two main courses with fried rice. Highly recommended. Everything was perfect thank you.”

“I tried this place on a whim and never looked back since. One of the best local takeaways IMO. Haven't ever had some bad food and it always arrives hot and at a reasonable time. I particularly appreciate the spicyness of their food, it's hotter than "British spicy" but it's still not overwhelming.”
