Quick info
About Gaucho Manchester
Gaucho Manchester is a steak house in Deansgate, set in a converted church at 2A St Mary's St. A large white original organ is the centrepiece of the split-level dining room, and an open kitchen is part of the space. The main dining area is upstairs, with a bar for guests waiting for a table. A recent refurbishment gave the room a darker colour scheme. Steak anchors the menu, including ribeye and fillet, with crab on toast as a starter and chocolate brownie for dessert. A cocktail bar runs alongside the restaurant, and DJ-hosted brunches are part of the line-up. Guests celebrating a birthday receive a free dessert.

Customer Review Summary
Steak is what most diners come for, with several describing the ribeye and fillet as tender, juicy and cooked to the requested medium. The chocolate brownie is the dessert reviewers single out most, crab on toast is praised as a starter, and the burger and a seafood main also earn favourable mentions. The converted church setting, its large white organ and the refurbished darker interior draw comment, and servers are described as friendly and attentive. The complaints centre on execution and value. One table found a ribeye and a salmon steak burnt, with the fish skin blackened and removed. Another found the roast potatoes and carrots lukewarm on a Sunday roast, with a chateaubriand portion barely larger than the roast beef. Cocktails were said to arrive with a huge ice cube and very little drink, a default gratuity on top of the service charge bothered one table, and one reviewer waited a while to pay. One reviewer advises booking well in advance. Birthday visits recur, and two parties were brought a free dessert or cake.

“Came here for my birthday after hearing Gaucho Manchester had been refurbished and loved the new interior! The atmosphere is especially nice in the evening and perfect for a birthday or date night. The steak was really tender and cooked perfectly too. Definitely recommend the chocolate brownie for dessert! Had such a lovely birthday dinner here and would definitely come back 🥰”

“Really enjoyed our dinner at Gaucho Manchester. I’d had this place on my list for a while, mainly because of the beautiful setting in a converted church, and the huge white organ is such a nice feature. 🤍 The restaurant has recently been refurbished with a warm, darker colour scheme, which gives it a really elegant feel. We had the Crab on Toast and King Prawns Sugo to start, followed by the ribeye and fillet, both cooked medium. The steak was juicy and cooked just how we liked it. We also had the chips and mash, and somehow still managed to finish with the banana pancake and chocolate brownie!🥩🍫🍟 A special thanks to Darell, who was really nice and friendly throughout our meal. Overall, a lovely evening and definitely somewhere I’d come back to.🙌🏻”

“Had a fantastic experience at Gaucho Manchester! From the moment we arrived, we were really well looked after. The servers were attentive throughout the whole experience and took the time to explain everything in detail, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely amazing. The steaks were cooked to perfection and full of flavour — easily one of the highlights of the meal. And if you’re ordering dessert, the brownie is an absolute must! Overall, excellent food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. The team really made us feel looked after from start to finish. Would definitely recommend and will be returning!”

“We came to Gaucho as a party of four during a weekend and got sat upstairs in the main dining area. The staff were very friendly on arrival, offering us time in the bar or to go straight to our table waiting for us. Overall we ordered a combination of starters and main meals. The starters were of good portion size and were tasty. For the main food, we all opted for steak, would definitely advise paying a little more and going for the (insert wife steak name) steak, as the flavours were much better. We didn’t go for dessert as the starters and main meals were filling enough. This restaurant is on the pricier side, and would definitely advise to book a table well in advance, but worth trying out.”
